5 pointsI change my axle fluid every 40 years, and no problems. Just changed it on my 1976 B80 and it looked fairly clean--no trace of water. I marked my calendar for the next service. Hope to continue this discussion with you all at that time.

3 pointsWell, I felt I had to share my happiness resulting from my recent snow cab purchase. I'm assuming the folks posting on Red Square can appreciate something like this. Sometimes its the simple things in life. I've had my '89 310-8 for about 15 years. I didn't even use the plow blade that came with it until about 9 years ago..When I found out I couldn't push wet heavy snow, I started looking for a snow thrower attachment, which I found within 50 miles of where I live. I've been using the snow thrower for many years but was growing tired of getting the snow "blow-back" all over me. I'd have to stop and shake the snow off of me and would often come in wet after finishing the job. Since I'm pushing 60, I decided I'd had enough winter weather. Thus began the search for a snow cab. As I'm sure you all know, these can be hard to find. It took me nearly a year, but I finally came across one that would fit my 310-8. I just had to drive 5 hours (each way) to get it as it was fully assembled. It was worth the drive. I got it installed over Thanksgiving and was ready when the snow came. I can't say enough about how nice it is to have any snow 'blow-back" sweep over the cab and finish the job DRY. I don't even have to pile on as many warm clothes. So yes, I'm now a happy cab-er Michael from Wisconsin

3 pointsI better make sure I get another bag of those buttons to pass out at the show this summer. I got this neon wall clock in a grab bag gift exchange. Always wanted one of these to see if I could take it apart and make it a Wheel Horse Clock. It said Man Cave before I made it a Wheel horse clock. Now to find one with a red tube.

2 pointsThe time of year had come again to order a load of logs to keep the shack warm this winter... Should it ever arrive! For as long as I can remember (which isn't that far these days) log moving duties has been given to my 312-8, but as it's in semi retirement known as "grass cutting duties only" and is now missing the big fluid fill ag rear tires/tyres log moving has been now passed on to the GT-14+2. The snowplow A frame hung underneath needs lengthening and narrowing to make it work and is held up at the front by a ratchet strap. Even though the GT is a very heavy machine, it still has the original rear grass tyres/tires fitted which could make things interesting towing a heavily loaded trailer through a very swampy area. So with the old Saxon trailer hitched up it was time to move the first load.. Quite a light load as I was moving the remains of last years logs from the log store.. Into the shack.. Ok, I might of missed the ramp a bit Now for something a bit heavier... This massive pile of logs (which was bigger than it looks) was delivered on a dark Saturday evening, with no time to shift them on the Sunday (visiting my Wife's family) they had stay out in the rain until Monday! Only a level load to see how the GT handled the weight. And this wet muddy ground! The GT had no problems whats so ever and the first load of new logs was soon unloaded. Load 2 was a bit heavier but once again the GT had no problems. Before unloading I stopped for a cup of coffee while looking at the pile of logs in the shack that still needed to be stacked under the bench Now throughout the morning I had been having the odd slight dizzy moment which is quite normal for me and I'm used to it.. But whilst unloading the logs I had a very big dizzy moment and it was only the trailer that stopped me going down! That was enough of a warning for me to stop what I was doing and head to the house to sit down in the warmth. The only problem was I had to move the trailer load of logs so I could shut the gate.. No sooner had I started moving forward a loud clonk/crash sound came from behind.. Yep the trailer had decided it wanted to try and and tip it's load!! Feeling quite rough by this point and as much as I didn't want to (knowing it was forecast to rain all night) the GT and trailer load of logs were abandoned where they stopped! Pic taken through kitchen window. The next morning dawned a bit on the damp side and was still raining.. The GT didn't look happy about being left to the mercy of the weather overnight! Having just got over a nasty flu/cold thing I didn't want to get wet in the rain, so I lit the fire in the shack and got on with stacking the rest of last years logs under the bench. Once the rain had stopped I went over to tell the GT "sorry about being left in the rain and yes I do still love you"... And to dry it off a bit!! The water was soon removed from the steering wheel and replaced with a lot of WD40. The last and biggest load in the trailer. The overnight rain had made the ground very swampy! But once again the GT took it all in it's stride and pulled the heaviest load through the most water and mud without any sign of wheel spin A full log store.. And a big "job well done" to the GT

2 pointsI finally got to take a video of the snow blower in action. The snow was 18 inches deep before the rain came and now its 5 inches of rock hard icey stuff. After the first pass , it dug in pretty good.I hope the link works , it took forever to upload. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaoFbnurLEE

2 pointsThanks for all the kind comments. This is the first post i ever started and also the first video i ever did . I couldn't have done it without my sons help..these teenagers are pretty smart when it comes to this computer stuff.I must say , the long chute throws about twice as far as my short chute one. One of these days i want to make a video of the c-160 with long chute . the GT-14 with a short chute and the D-200 with its big blower all in line like at the airport...but i will need to find more operators .I have never tried the big blower on a D series . My son is refurbishing the D-200 in our shop for his senior project so it probably won't be ready for this winter.

1 pointDon't worry about me Mike...I am on my way upstairs. Another possibility is I picked the teams I thought would lose and wrote them down wrong.

1 pointI was hoping to see a running tally of where everybody stood. I see N. Illinois got everybody. I don't know what logic you used, BK-SCOUTER, to pick Pittsburgh but I used my usual scientific calculations. Based on the geographic coordinate system I located the stadium in Detroit. Using that and dividing it by the astrological position of the moon during the third quarter I was able to determine a new location that happened to be in Pennsylvania. It's a strange phenomenon, little known to most folks, but it will tell you who the winning team will be every time. My calculator battery died just before the Poinsettia bowl..................... OK, the truth is, I picked Pitt because they beat Notre Dame. See, I don't hold a grudge. In the real world, if football knowledge could be measured by volume I couldn't fill a valve cap off a . Probably the only thing I know is that I'm a Fighting Irish fan win or lose. But you may have noticed that if you have sharp eyes.

1 pointSome people think I take the 'Buy American' too far. Always coming back and saying there's foreign parts in this or that that I own only because they think it justifies them not taking the effort to support the American worker. True, it's impossible to buy 100% American. The stand I take is that I try my best to buy products made in America if I have a choice. If everybody would make the effort to do the same the results would be amazing. Jim, I'm sorry to hear about your situation and that you have become a victim of corporate greed. I wish you and all your co-workers involved the very best of luck.

1 pointthats too bad Jim. we powder coat for the ag industry (JD, IH, CAT etc) and I've noticed for the last couple years more and more raw castings and parts coming in with 'made in china' on them. the crates that hold the parts don't have a lick of english on them......... the farmers that buy this equipment in the end really don't know where a lot of the parts for their $300,000+ machine really come from. local parts content is slowly disappearing.....

1 pointI'm pretty sure those kits are only for the Onan engine replacement. I've looked into them a couple of times. Not to say you could not switch out a Kohler but the mounting plate and wiring are intended for the Onan engine. When you check out their site they don't show anything for the Kohler. Guess they never wear out ...well almost never

1 pointIf they come out of their corral, he may just get the urge to herd them! Years ago when our oldest 2 were around 10 yrs old, they and a bunch of neighbor kids would play hide and seek in my yard. The wife's border collie would herd them up on the deck, then they would scatter and start all over again. He was permanately "it" and loved it!

1 pointWhen ever I have sold a WH part on the bay I always encourage the buyer to join the RS community.. A couple have signed up although they don't post much or at all! A few have been members already but both the buyer and I haven't known it until the deal had been done But for some reason a lot of buyers have no interest in joining a forum at all !! I need to do some RS promotion on my videos... Karl, would it be ok to use a few RS screen shot's in my vids?

1 pointI ran a 16 HP Vanguard on my C-120 for 20 years. I broke the corner off the engine when I went off a bank. Had it welded never got it to stop leaking oil. It opened up a crack dumped the oil. I have an 18 HP vanguard on it now with a solid 3/8" plate under it. It's a tight fit in a C-120. The later models have a lot more room. I checked out a Honda wasn't enough room on a C-120.

1 pointI guess I'd better post my Raider 20 6X6 here then You all know the story by now.. It's been dragging on for long enough She started life as a humble and very worn C-125.. A body swap soon had her looking like this... Enter Garry and some beer.. And the idea was born Over four years later she looked like you know her now..
-
1 pointThanks guys ! Sorry for being scarce, but life has been getting in the way lol. Anyhow, figured I'd post this one up also. Any guesses what this one morphs into? It has big fluid filled tires... ,,,and double hydraulics like a C-195, and a foot operated DCL (from Doc) Electric PTO clutch on a Kohler K341 16hp. If you guessed that it's a C-160 HD, you are correct. Complete 520 chassis with gear reduction steering and a complete mid-1970's C-160 body.

1 pointThanks Bob. This could help me a lot. What's a good way to polish up an old steering wheel? Its got some paint on it n areas. Just paint it as well?
