2 pointsHello, I saw "jason.c's" post of his HotRod Wheel Horse. So I thought I better learn how to put some stuff on here rather than just watching! This spring I got a 1972 Commando 800 with a broken engine. ($75) It only needed a connrod and the cam needed welded. So I fixed 'er up and it ran just fine. Smooth and good power ... and quiet. But after 20 minutes the oil was metallic gray. So I tore into it again thinking it was going to be the rod journal. No problem in what I did ... the piston was all scraped up. Oh well ... just set it aside. I sold the K181 parts and that more than covered the price of the tractor and new engine parts. Then at a yardsale I got a 2003 Kohler CH12.5 which needed a starter. ($5 for the motor) And $27 for a used starter. I knew where it was going! The shaft was too large for the PTO but I didn't need another mower anyways! And this is what I ended up with. Still needs one item taken care of ... the ackermann is backward now. That can wait until spring. Well, here's the pics. One is a "before" pic. Once I get to resizing the pics of the other WH's I'll put some of those on here. TNX, Joe

2 pointsWe have a local for sale site on Face book, kinda like CL, I seen a week ago a tractor listed very little info covered in dust and dirt, price was pretty steep, but I asked a few questions on it, and was a few days before I got little info back, so I asked for a phone no. and called on it, but they could only say they bought it used in 1995, and bought a new deck for it that year, and was parked a few years later, then she added that it came with a big round thing that hooked to the back and a snowblower, well on the phone I talked her down $500 from the asking price mainly because I could not hear it run, so I hooked up the trailer and drove the 15 mile trip to look at it, it was buried in the back of a barn, with years of dirt on it, stuff piled around it, so I dug it out and was pretty happy with what I seen so we loaded it up, it is a 1984 Workhorse 1600 8 speed with a 16hp Briggs twin, the 48" deck is about as nice as I have ever seen used, blower is ugly but in good shape with lift tube and flag, the roller is a very nice Sears unit, we found the near new 2 link tire chains hanging in the barn, also a home made set of wheel weights, first stop was the car wash to clean the 1/2" of dusty dirt off it, it cleaned up pretty nice, even has a clevis hitch on it, one front tire is toast from setting flat all these years, but I had a nice one like it at home, got it fired up in a few min. after being home on carb cleaner, but after the third try the plastic starter gear gave out so I need to fix that, but I think it will turn out to be a nice score, the logo high back seat is near perfect, the paint is pretty nice, was barn keep I was told and it looks it, Glad I made the offer on it, I figured the worst they could say was no. Here it is with a quick car wash spray off, still needs some more cleaning, the fuel system taken apart and cleaned and new lines run, and like I said a tire and starter swap.

2 pointsThis 79' D200 is the essence of what a Garden Tractor is to me. I got it for a song and with some work have gotten it to where I need it. It is very reliable and gets the job done. I have a tiller, snow-blower, 3pt. cultivator, 3pt.box blade, 3pt. pallet mover, 58"snow blade, 42"dozer blade, and a 48" mower deck. I don't use the snow-blower or mower deck but everything else gets a workout. Its big and ugly and I like it that way. Thank You to Trouty56 Bob for posting the pics. My wife said between her and the kids they would teach me how to do it.

2 pointsProbably gonna ruffle a few feathers here but this reminds me of a little kid on a playground taking all the toys and not letting anyone else play with them...I have plenty of rare stuff just as most here do but I don't go to a want ad and tell someone I have a bunch but none are for sale HarleyFX I have a complete ready to install one pictured below that I will ship to your door for FREE!!!! Send me a pm with your address and I will get it in the mail. I sell a lot of WH parts but I also give away parts to other members here on redsquare it just depends on the part and how many I have.

1 pointI have been wanting to build my dream barn for several years now and just have not been able to get it done. I spoke with the company that makes them and they are telling me it will be spring time before they will be able to produce my barn kit if I were to place my order in the next month or two so..... I just cannot let my tractors sit outside another winter. I got the energy to get started on this one. It is 12' x 20'. I got started yesterday and here is where I stand as of this afternoon. Hope to have the new standing seam metal roof on it by Monday. I plan on putting ship lap siding on it and letting it weather a bit before I stain it. We will see. The roof will be dark bronze standing seam. I figure I can get about 8 tractors in there. I will try and take more pics as I go. Oh yeah... Cousin Timbo stopped up the house and we did some horse tradin too. Pic is what I ended up with...

1 pointNo lucky charms, just set back and wait, I passed on a good deal last week C-120 hydro with cab 2 blowers and a deck $300 guy was a jerk to everyone that posted on his ad so I figured he didn't need my money. Yellow axle caps ?? they are just stained that way from the grease they should be white This is the 5th tractor in 3 weeks, and I was trying to thin them out

1 pointWent to the Threshermans Park at Boonville Indiana today for the Fall Show. For the 2nd Saturday in a row, I used my B-80 to plow. The Southern Indiana Clay was a little tougher than the sandy soil at Scott's M & G last week. Here is a video of the plowing.

1 pointSeen this and could let get away after the Mayrath did, It a 1948 R7 Shaw Du-All. its a runner driver with a ZZP B&S which runs great and starts on the first pull.Has brand new tires on all 4 too. It came with the cultivator and 10" mold board. The PO painted when he first got it some 30 yrs ago and it still looks good. He did infact use it for farming a 5 acre plot of sweet corn till 94 and has sat since. It needs a need a carb cleaning and thats about it. It'll look nice along side the other oldies.

1 pointYour shoulder will end up like mine!!

1 pointI would think that is a 50.00 to 75.00 tractor, If you can get the motor and trans running then you made out good. If not you will get your moneys worth in parts. Chances are 1 of the 2 are working. good luck.

1 pointI used a replacement Tecumseh spring in mine...$7.00 on ebay. Worked just fine.

1 pointI am new here but have had 5 different wheel horse tractors over the last 12 years. Right now I have a Charger 12 auto and a C160 8 speed. Today I stopped at a lawn mower shop and looked around in their defunct lot, and found another wheel horse C160 but this one is an auto with hydraulic lift. My lawn mower is a 1976 C160 and I am going to take the hydro out of the one I bought today for $400 It is a 1974 C160, when I have mine all back together I am going to rebuild the 1974 and probably sell it. It is a complete tractor with a 42" side chute deck so when everything is done it will be a C160 8 speed and will be a working lawnmower.

1 pointHi everyone, figured I would add my 79 D-200 to the list I purchased it about a year ago from someone here in Massachusetts. It was in pretty much the condition it is in now just had to change fluids/filters and remove and flush fuel tank replace lines, filter, pump and a good cleaning. The tractor runs and works great very useful machine. This is the first time posting pictures here hopefully they come out alright if not I will try again.

1 pointHere is a what I believe to be a Raider 10 from 1974. What is something like this worth if you were going to buy it? Appears to be in excellent condition. Thanks.

1 pointYour not going to get many good opinions on here about the vertical shaft, but you will from me.It is a much better tractor than you will find for 100. dollars today. It will still be going years from now with very little maint. It's odd to me that people put down these tractors when they are obviously superior to the junk you buy today. It's like people calling the JD you see at home depot junk.Theyare not a garden tractor, but if youuse one of them you will see that they are a good lawn tractor. I had a 266H that was a cutting machine, sold it to a guy this spring and he raves about it.I buy and sell L&G tractors, and my tractor that I have used for about 3 yrs is a simplicity broadmoor with a 44" deck, vert shaft briggs twin. You won't find a better cutting tractor. With that said I have a 417-A that I am going to put a blade on for pushing snow. I just saw your pic, that was a steal,I will buy them all day long like that and sell them for at least 600.That is going to last you a long time.

1 pointOH Great!!! Iowa has a bye this week...now I will have to try to figure out if the week off will be an advantage or not. Somehow, I doubt it.

1 pointNo sir, you're the one that needs to be commended... for having the enthusiasm to take on a project that most people would deem "too far gone"

1 pointI've got a constant rotation of parts thru the tank. That is the best thing about using the e-tank, I can just load it and pull them out when I am ready for he next part. The parts can be in there anywhere from a few hours to several days. I usually have several parts in there at a time and I just pick out the one that looks like it is most ready. Or in some cases the next part I need to move forward with assembly. The battery tray was in for about 20 hours(I think). The foot rest was in for about a week so, it almost wiped clean except for the really rusty areas. They took a little work to get them to shine. Thanks for the enthusiastic support. It's people like you that help to keep me motivated. I am looking forward to showing it off at the big show in June.
