Seen this and could let get away after the Mayrath did, It a 1948 R7 Shaw Du-All. its a runner driver with a ZZP B&S which runs great and starts on the first pull.Has brand new tires on all 4 too. It came with the cultivator and 10" mold board. The PO painted when he first got it some 30 yrs ago and it still looks good. He did infact use it for farming a 5 acre plot of sweet corn till 94 and has sat since. It needs a need a carb cleaning and thats about it. It'll look nice along side the other oldies.

Picked this up last week and hadn't had a chance to post pictures yet. I was looking for a Horse to help move some snow this winter, and although this isn't exactly the direction I was planning on going, this one was in such good condition and a good price so I couldn't pass it up. It is by far, the best original seat I have found on one. The engine runs good, but has a non-original engine block. The Sears snow blower is way more than I need so have posted it on classifieds. Hate to break up the set since it is in good condition and someone did a pretty nice job installing it on this tractor, but it takes up too much room to keep "just in case". I plan on just running it with the snow blade this winter. I think I got all the blade parts (have angle handle, just not in pics) except one of the rods for the angle lock mechanism, but hopefully that isn't too hard to make. . It also came with a bucket of parts. I think most are for a mower deck mule drive, but there is one part (middle of picture) I can't identify. It has a bend at one end and a threaded trunnion on the other. The bent end looks like it was welded on to something else at some point. Since the blower is pretty close to WH red, I can't tell if it is a WH part or from the blower. There is also a pin on a chain that seems a little fancy to just be a hitch pin, but maybe that is all it is. If anybody recognizes either, please post here.

This tractor has been on craiglist awhile, decided to check into it. PO said it would not run, only if gas poured into cylinder. Brought it home, checked fuel line, carb was dry. changed fuel pump and put a filter on it. Started right up purrs like a kitten. Felt like it was my lucky day. I have a pretty small yard had to try out today, bagged all grass and leaves in about 15 minutes. Have a cab and single stage blower, waiting on snow. Tom

As far as stats and such you are correct. But this OSU team has what no other B1G team had in the past: Urban Meyer and his staff. To me, he is a game changer and the main reason why this program will compete with the South. "I hate FSU, GATORS, and MIAMI CANES. But those were consistent programs when they had the right coaches' and recruiting staff in place. " And that guy and staff from that Gator team are now in Columbus. We all know his record, 122-23, 2 NC's, and a winning record at every school he has been at. He has never had a losing season...ever. He is one of the best recruiters in the country. Last 2 years under Tressel, the Buckeyes were ranked 25 and 11. Two years under Meyer they were ranked 4 and 2. This is one of the main reasons why this team will be one of the top 5 teams in the country going forward. We can forget about the past win-loss records vs the SEC. Those teams were coached by the likes of Earle Bruce, John Cooper and Tressel. All of which were decent but middling top tier coaches. I argue that OSU has never had a head coach of the status of Urban Meyer since Woody Hayes. This team should be one of the top teams in the country until Meyer burns out again!!! :hide:

Heres my girl. When I bought her in 2011 she was a basket case as you can see. They hydro pump and motor was run out of oil and burned up, car tires on the back, front ones didn't hold air, a seat that a beaver had attacked at some point, no 3 point hitch and a wiring harness that looked like a 4 year old made it, the plow frame was bent and so was the moldboard like it hit something solid at about 10 MPH. But I didn't give up....I tore it pretty much down to the frame, purchased 3 hydro pumps and a motor and Made 1 good of each out of a bunch of parts. Cleaned the tranny completely after finding silicone clogging the intake screen, stripped everything to bare metal and rewelded all the broken parts, fixed all the dents and dings this poor thing got in its previously rough life and started from scratch rebuilding things the way I would have done it if I was Wheel Horse 1973. I added LED lights on both front and rear of the fenders and the headlights. I bought a 520 60 inch deck and adapted it to fit under the tractor and work like it should. I did a bunch of work for a member on here and scored me a bent up and rusted 3 point which I straightened and redid after soaking it for 2 weeks in tranny fluid and acetone. Repainted everything and got a seat that was close to what was offered in 73 on it. I made turning brakes from a bunch of pieces that I got along with some ingenuity and custom fab work from my Dad and myself, 29-9.50x15 Titan R-3 sneakers in the back and a set of 18-9.50x8 turf tires up front. I remade the entire wiring harness and added a multi-fuse block. It was a labor of love from the start because I have wanted an 18 auto from the time I was old enough to read the 1973 sales brochure my Dad got with his 12 Auto. I decided at that point I was going to have an "Estate Tractor" someday. Now she's mine and what a workhorse she is even with a very tired engine she still plows snow like a beast.

Toro made the Kohler vs Onan decision just like John Deere and every other company. Onan was cheaper and thats all that mattered. I don't believe the Ponds would have made the switch from Kohler of they were still in power at the time. They tried Clinton, and Lauson, Techy and Briggs but always stayed with Kohler in the end. They knew where the real power and reliability came from... the big K!! Wheel Horse makes it...Kohler shakes it!!

"Onan twins are known for running thousands of hours in applications other than Wheel Horses. They have a very good reputation outside our world." -wh500special The P series needs a large amount of cooling air. I believe overheating is the major issue with the ONAN application on wheel horse 500 and 400 series tractors. Any ONAN on a generator does not run into this wheel horse specific problem. This happens often with 42 and 48 inch side discharge decks that shoot some clippings out the front and on a hot day could overheat the engine. The ONAN P series may also need more frequent valve adjustment and de-carbon service than the Kohler equivalent flat head twins.

Found it.... of all places.... in the FAQ section! Still.... what are you trying to find?
  14. 1 point
There was a thread about it long ago, I don't even know if it made the migration. It's kind of a hard one to search for... the words serial number and location have been used a few thousand times here! Are you looking for a particular model? With exception of the pre-1964 tractors they were all pretty much in one of three places. Under the dash on the dash tower, on the left side of the dash tower or under the seat.

Let's see if all you men still feel the same about the snow when it is below freezing and your drenched from the snow that has now turned into freezing rain. I get it, riding on a horse with its toys attached can be a blast but you can do that every season all year long. fall foliage keep on coming.....snow hold off until late december please

Considering that may of these engines were used on generators, refer units, water pumps and such all long hour running applications you should be fine as long as your maintenances are up to date. Although I would ditch the 2 to 1 pulley setup as the engines are designed to run at 3700 for proper cooling, lubrication, and full power. IT will be louder and more thirsty then your Honda

Mike & John: 2006 & 2007 seasons for The Buckeye's ring a bell? Again, I am a fan, I will always be a Buckeye. But a true fan, as I said in the very beginning, when this thread started. You call it like it is. The Buckeye's are overrated this year. Mike, they would not even make it a game against Alabama. Not only has the SEC been a thorn in Ohio's side, it was not until 2010 that they finally were able to win against an SEC team in a bowl game. Check the records. Emotions, about a team, still do not change the stats. Northwestern is pointed in the right direction with Fitzgerald, no doubt. But a "consistent", year-end, year-out program takes years to build. I hate FSU, GATORS, and MIAMI CANES. But those were consistent programs when they had the right coaches' and recruiting staff in place. Those 3 teams from Florida, played in more NCAA title game for a 20 year run than the entire Big Ten conference. Beginning with 1980 - 2000. In those 20 years a Florida team showed up to play 16 times. The Big Ten saw 5. Now it is ALABAMA> 2009 - 2012 so far. < That is consistent. That is a solid, well built, well structured program. Show me any Big 10 Team that has been able to replicate that in the past 30 years. I'll go 1 better, show me any 4 year run, won by any Big Ten Team. You won't find it. You will find "1 Hit Wonders". That's what they are. And, in my opinion, that's why we cheer our hearts out each and every year, regardless of the rankings, critics, media, ect. In the end, we will still cheer them on, WIN, LOOSE, or DRAW!

The D series and most of the later 500 series are the only tractors that Wheelhorse/Toro designed with the intention of using a front loader from the factory.. Including XI's, etc. The front wheels use one inch spindles and use an automotive type hub. The later 520's included the gear reduction steering to help it turn "better" with a front end load. (XI's had a power steering option I believe). Factory 3rd party or "Allied Attachment Manufacturers" that Wheelhorse partnered with offered a loader attachment for all the garden tractors but they required a mandatory heavy duty front wheel/spindle kit that many didn't purchase or acquire in later years. There are some on this site that have broken front spindles in the process of working with a front end loader on their tractors. The 520 uses the Eaton 1100 hydro rear which is very heavy duty and the sub-frames for the 3rd party manufacturers of the loaders were extremely stout. (Ark manufacturing and later Kwikways). I think looking at the Arks and Kwikway loader's sub-frames should give you the building blocks needed to create your own design within the specifications and of course, limitations of the 520. (Don't expect to pickup and move a half ton with it). It will do it with enough counter weight but it won't do it too many times. The Ark loader on my 520 is over 30 years old and it is on a 1991 520-H. The only REAL honest to goodness mod I had to do was mounting the pump since the Onan overflows the frame opening where it was originally intended to mount. I think watching the weight of the overall loader structure and not building it to pickup 1000 lb. is the best way to go about building a loader from the ground up. I think the Kwikway can pickup more than the Ark is rated at, (350 lbs moving), because the Ark is just plain big and heavy. (Over engineered). That recommended maximum pickup capacity was for C series tractors ranging from the C-80 up to the C-175 at the time the Ark was built. I believe the 520 can handle more capacity but since your looking at the same frames of these tractors and not necessarily their gross weight, I stick to that maximum moving lift weight with my setup. I was told by many when I got mine hooked up to make sure you check all your bolts and fittings after you use it for awhile and it was great advice. A loader can loosen things up quicker than just mowing! I would be interested in what the PF Industries specs are for the loader plans your using. Let us know how your project goes along the way and good luck going forward!

If we are talking vintage then a Fordson Major or Dexta with a county 4wd conversion. If we are talking newer then a Muir Hill 131 or a County 1184TW. I like big wheels

In summer 2009 at a family get together Jdog was telling me about Wheelhorse tractors and showed me this website. He also showed me a CL ad with a D180 in Steelton PA......well I scrounged some bucks together and brought this home....with a 48 inch deck (not shown)....I joined up on this site and one of my first posts was about the tractor going backwards when the lever was pushed forward......I got an answer and had it fixed the same day.....I've been active ever since...... Next I got a plow from Dave at Tractorworld.... The engine smoked very badly so I rebuilt the engine......got some rubber....a bit of paint......added a PTO shaft....got a 3 point..... Same tractor....same dog....now with a snow chucker......4 years later....still a diamond in the rough....but it is MINE!!!!

Back when I had my A/C business I used to do mobile a/c repair at area farms. I had 1 older farmer that had all Farmall/IH tractors and did custom combining all over the north eastern part of our county. Great guy and would always pay in cash what I wanted for any job with out quibbling. His son on the other hand thought he new everything and let everyone know about it. Anyway his son bought one of those Panthers. Father was pissed because it was green! Dad called one day because the Panther's A/C quit. I came down spent about 4 hours there and when done told dad the total. He reaches in his pocket and gives me $50 more than I wanted and says the extra is because his son is paying and it's green! Son comes into the store I worked at a couple of days later squawking about the cost. I say it's fixed, aint it? and he leaves. Fast forward 6 month's. Son calls yelling that his A/C doesn't work. I go out there and just the dad's there. I start it up and the A/c is running but little air is coming out the vents. I ask if the filters have been checked lately and the dad said his son just changed every filter on it. I pull the cover on the smaller stack and the filter is plugged solid. Now air is flowing good without the filter, OOPS!! Son missed that one! The Dad ask's how much I needed and I say don't worry about it. He reaches into his pocket and hands me $50 and says it will be worth the look on his son's face when he gets home!
