I got this finished up today, overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out considering I painted this one myself.

Purdue did hang with Notre Dame, but still lost. And a little respect for Akron please. They played like a Big Ten team today. Acorns are for squirrels, and squirrels are for mini vans in Maryland.

Kind of curious to see what will be at the show in a few weeks in Warsaw...if you plan on coming...what do you plan on bringing? Besides a whole bunch of parts...I'm bringing... C-141 857 Suburban 400 Another early 60's roundhood (looks like an L-156 but with round fenders) All run great! Also plan on bringing a Charger 12 and a Commando 8 which will hopefully be running by then. Gonna be a good time!

I only use my filled tires for snow removal. Plus I have the 50 lb. weights on with chains. The fluid in the tires give the tractor more momentum they help push the tractor making it push really well. I put the regular turfs on for mowing. We're talking little LGT tires here. There heavy but not that heavy. Replace the lug bolts with 7/16" bolts and use lugnuts from a older Chevy. Make swapping wheels way easier. Here's a post I did about filling tires.

Ken...enter the cat...problem solved. I used to get mice once in a while...not since we have had cats. That is a real plus. Once in a while they will bring the kill up for your approval...be sure to acknowledge that. If you want to have some fun with your new cat...consider a little cat-nip...ours likes a little Pink Floyd...the Division Bell album with hers. It is the simple things in life that mean the most.

I can't believe what a difference loaded tires make for traction. Not only the weight but the momentum of the liquid rolling along give the tractor an "extra push" I all ready loaded the tires in my C 160. My Power King came with loaded rears but had CC in them and the wheels started rotting. I bought a pair of Farmall Cub tires and wheels but they where not loaded. Here's how I did it. I know it's not a but a tire is a tire and a tractor is a tractor. First the fluid of choice RV antifreeze. Got it on sale at Lowes for $2.98 gal. I know washer fluid is cheaper but I wanted non toxic for my pets and this stuff comes with corrosion inhibitor. First problem. I can't get the valve core out due to the 100 lb. weight that I DO NOT WANT to take off. The core tool will not go in straight. Problem solved. modify core tool Next problem. Fill adapter I got at Napa for $14.00 won't fit again because of the weight. Problem solved. Went back to Napa and got a RV dual wheel tire stem extension hose. $23 but still better than removing weights. Borrowed a small elec pump from work. hooks up with garden hoses or in this case washing machine hose. When filling I pump in a couple of gallons then bleed out some air. Shutting off the pump allows the air back into the bucket and out. There is also a bleeder valve on the fill adapter I used the floor jack to let the tractor down to force out the air faster. Used 22 gallons. :thumbs:

So....I have been looking after and feeding a stray cat at work for the past few months. I happened upon her while I was sifting thru the pallet pile, she was looking pretty desperate and was wicked thin. The truck driver at work told me she has been there at least a year, he would often come upon her as he was getting his truck ready to roll early in the morning. She would usually run out from beneath his truck. Anyhow, I started feeding her and when I discovered she was living in the cardboard dumpster I had to make her a house. Believe it or not I would check on her a few times a day, she really enjoyed the attention and is very friendly! She would actually come into my open shop door and just plop down on one of my benches and chill for a few hrs. Yesterday while hanging out with her at break time out back near the pallet pile I saw a young coyote heading over to her cat house! Just before that coyote showed up for some reason she got up and took refuge in the pallet pile. Now I knew why and right then I decided she was coming home with me. So....I bring her home today, I cleared out my shed and put her cathouse in. I figured I'd give her a half can of food so she'd know that this is where she now eats and sleeps. After about an hour or so I told my son it was time to open the door to the shed and let her do a little exploring. Within a half hour or so she was nowhere to be seen for the next few hrs. My son started to worry but I told him she'd be back, she is just checkin out the hood. The wife gets home and says, where the cat? I said I don't know, off checkin things out. Man was she mad I let the cat loose so soon telling me she'd never find her way back to a new home so soon. I didn't know any better, I've never owned a cat before, I just figured they could always find there way back home. It really didn't occur to me that the cat didn't know this is now her home. So now my son is real worried and now I'm a little worried to. Its now dark and me and the boy are now off wandering around the neighborhood callin here kitty kitty for the next hour or so without finding her. We get back home and I shine the flashlight in the back yard and we see green eyes, another here kitty kitty and she comes trotting right up to us! I really wasn't too pleased with my wife for putting a scare in us and making me feel like a total idiot. So, if there are any cat people in the house, how do I go about letting this cat know this is now home? I'm also wondering how to introduce the kitty to my beagle who just so happens to actually like cats. To top it all off I suspect this gal has a few buns in the oven! For tonight I locked her in the shed but I really don't think that is right. This week I'm planning a trip to the vet for shots etc. I wasn't planning on letting her in the house until I know she isn't carrying any types of disease etc. Thanks for any advice!

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago without hearing it run. The wires on the ign. switch were melted together and it wouldn't start so I bought it on the gal's word that it ran. I ordered a new switch and today I fixed the wires and installed the switch. She fired right up, it runs good and doesn't smoke. The muffler was shot but I had one on the shelf, think I'm gonna have to find the correct one though. This setup has to go. I mowed with it a little and was surprised how quiet the deck is. I need to check into the adjustment on the forward control lever, it doesn't want to stay on a steady pace when going forward but other than that it seems to be a decent tractor.

Well guys- The F-35 is taking shape as the replacement for the older less sophisticated fighters being used now. Specifically the variant for the Marines & Navy with vertical take off and landing capabilities. Rolls-Royce makes the lift mechanisum that it uses. My boy 'JR". Has three patents for its design. I am bursting with pride about what this boy has accomplished-and I feel that it makes our service men & women better equipped to handle the "mess" our world has become. Alan Jr went from almost qitting Pop Warner Football-to being an All Conference center for the PENN HIGH SCHOOL "Gold Rush" offense. He then went on to TRI-State College and graduated in Mechanical Engineering. He landed a job with ALLISON-GAS TURBINE in Indy, which was purchased by Rolls- Royce for Defense contracts. He is now Chief of System Design for all Rolls-Royce products in the USA. For give me for blowing this horn-but those of you with kids will understand- The lift mechanisum performed flawlessly over 18 days of testing-a perfect score! So I broke my fuel pump (aftermarket) and ordered a new one. Since I did so I figured I would put a new kit in the carb. The one i received was basic that replaced the old needle under the float and a gasket. I received the new fuel pump which is now all plastic with a metal arm?? and I have not had this 8 horse ever run like this. EVER> biggest issue is its pumping fuel right out the front of the carb. Can't get it to stop. I have taken the thing off several times to see what is going on and it appears that the float and needle are functioning properly when the carb is off. The float is not leaking and is dry inside, and it starts right up every time, but then it just suffocates with fuel. Also, I can't get the bowl to seal for the LIFE OF ME!!!! I have owned this horse for quite a few years, High compression rebuild port polish and has balls the size of Texas. But not so much right now. ' Help!! (i'm having withdrawls from driving this thing)

My Dad (Limited12), my son and I went on another trip Saturday and bought a D-200 (something I've been waiting for for a while)! She runs but the gas tank needs cleaning and the carburator needs to be re-built. Other than that, AWESOME find for the price! An added bonus, she came with a deck and a snow plow. Thanks for another great trip, Dad! Can't wait until next time!

Thats a great question Craig. I have a young punk by me thats had a 701 for sale for 2 years now. No attachments, it was spray bombed very very shoddily, has no battery and he wants $700 for it. It has sat outside the whole time chained to a telephone pole along Rt 93. I stopped and talked to him about it 2 years ago in June about it and he was telling me how special it is. Its only made 1 year, yadda yadda yadda. The whole schpiel ( and it wouldnt start to top it off). Well now he has it on Craigslist. So about 2 weeks ago I called thinking the price had it have dropped by now. Gives me the same story as 2 years ago, tells me $700 again so I let him know I heard the same story from him in 2011. He cant understand why 20 or 30 people looked at it or called about it but nobody bought it....hmmmm wonder why???? I ask if he ever put a battery in it and got it running......wait for it............"No I didn't. I'm not puttin any money into this if guys like you are gonna get a special tractor for cheap and screw me." I said Dude do you think that maybe nobody buys it because A. It doesnt start or run, and B. You're out of your ever loving mind to think that you'll sell that machine for $700 with a spray bomb paint job and it doesnt run. I mean if you're gonna paint something take the time to mask it and do a decent job at least.

Thanks guys.. found a suitable replacement on that auction site. 2 x part no. 56000-02 for $9.95 and free shipping. Sounds like a deal to me. I'll have a spare now.

So, does it make any sense to restore these things... when you can't seem to get back half of what you put into it?

These " made for TV " shows have screwed everything up. Big flea market last weekend and prices were nuts on junk. If rust was really worth so much I would have been saving it for years for today's market

We have four cats. Combination indoor/ outdoor. Actually they do whatever they want. Ours are proficient killers! They always bring their kills up to the house to show us. The list is actually impressive of what they keep out of the yard. Snakes, field rats, squirrels, grasshoppers, mice, moles, chipmunks, rabbits, and birds. It seems like we are disposing of the kills every other day. This year we kept track of how many snakes they have killed, we are up to 17. Good luck with yours!

How cool is it, and remotely confusing, that there are two meet ups, both in a town called Warsaw, just one weekend apart, 2 states apart, and all because of one little forum website. Good stuff guys! To specify, I will be headed to the Warsaw, Missouri meet up, and was wondering what some of you guys will be bringing with you. I keep tellin myself that I just got this to mow with and I'm not going to do anything to it other than what it needs to make it a decent worker. We'll see how long that lasts.

Nah...was a long weekend with my son filled with drag racing Friday night at our local track, 410 sprint cars last night and today was filled with the Jeep in 4 low rambling around the woods for about 6 hours. Just got home and I'll tear into it tomorrow.....

Having just realized that I can make the Indiana on the 5th since we'll be up there visiting our kids and grandkids, plans are all set already. I'm sure you've seen the 70's Commando 800 I restored for my grandson in Indiana. Show day is going to be a grampa/grandson day. Jay is now 13 and he'll have a blast! Can't get any better than that.

We have "competing" Warsaw get togethers going on here. This topic was started for the Warsaw, MO meeting in two weekends. Us 'westerns' are going to have to get going to compete with you guys in Indiana.

Well, I won't be able to bring anything but I'm cranked up! We lived in northern Indiana for 45 years before moving here in 2000. I was amazed to see that the show was Oct. 5. We're heading up there to visit family on Sept. 27 and won't leave until Oct. 6!! I can make the show!! I sent Scott a PM for the address. Now to find a round hood to restore. I wouldn't be able to bring it home with me yet because we'll have the wife's car but my son-in-law has plenty of storage areas.

after a couple of days you will just love having her /him around , Cats can be great fun & very affectionate , here is our cat Tilly hanging out on the sun lounger with Coco our Rabbit . When we take our two dogs for a walk round the local park , Tilly comes too . To watch the two dogs & cat running round the park together is hillarious

First dead mouse today! She is already earning her keep. If she can take care of the problem that we have with mice getting up into the attic and having a filed over our bed room in the winter my wife will love the cat for life! There is no access to the space over our bed room. The friggin mice will keep us up all night! I have done everything possible to get rid of them but they always find their way back up there.

I tried to use wisdom to explain how Akron could give the Wolverettes such a good game. All I could come up with is that Michigan is just not that good.

My dogs have gotten out once in 10 years, when I left the gate unlatched. I found them checking out a yard sale down the road. Now a dog at my back door neighbors yard started knocking down the fence. I had to run a bolt thru the post to repair it. My goofy cats know their names. I have lots of high perches for them to patrol the yard. I miss my other cat. He was a weather cat. He could predict a storm 4 hours before it hit. Here is a pic of the fence that stupid Great Dane knocked over. He think he could tackle Stevasauras!

Don't worry about that cat running away...once you have something outside that is theirs, they know how to get back. Also, there will be no mice problem with your horses any more. I've never named any of our cats...they never come when you call them anyway...unless they want to. It looks like they love to play with cicadas also. Know that they will range and stake out their territory...then they will seldom leave that area.

Mike: I can remember back in the day having to tie my dogs up when I was a kid. trouble with that is sooner or later the chain would get weak and break and then we had a loose dog on a real busy road as it seems that is always the first place they went. We lost a dog to the busy road when it got loose, at thirteen yrs. old I witnessed my dog get run over and it sucked real bad. I helped my Dad bury him. When I bought my house I used to keep my dog fenced in but sooner or later they would find a way out. Ten yrs. ago I bought a Petsafe under ground electric fence system and installed it. It was the best 300 bucks I ever spent! My Beagle Emma has only got out ONCE and it was my fault because I knew the batteries in her collar were getting old and I didn't replace them. Well, I certainly learned a lesson there! She got out and headed right up the road to Farmer Bills place. Bill has a few goats etc. As it turns out Emma enjoys rolling around in goat poop! When she finally came home my son let her in not knowing what kind of mess she got herself into! Luckily I wasn't far from the front door and I was able to act quick and scoop that dumb dog up real quick and back outside to the garden hose for a bath with soap and not so warm water! This cat once had a home, some loser moved and left her behind, I'm sure she isn't a ferral cat. After she gets checked by a vet if she wants to come in the house that is fine. She'll have to put up with Emma's nonsense though!

The one good thing about living up on this mountain in the woods is that I get very little traffic going by my house being that it is a private neighborhood. Trip to the vet is planned for this week and last night she got introduced to the litter box....

Outside they have a very short life expectancy, maybe like two years or less... so you gotta get her to the Vet asap if you plan on keeping her around long term. Our last house cat lasted twenty years...some I've read have survived upwards of thirty years. Cats are really social creatures who are all about the routine, so feeding her at regular times everyday is critical. To locate her on one spot Ken, she needs to be introduced to a litter box asap.

They replicate like crazy though. They can have two litters a year and I've seen their offspring have a litter the following year. If you don't handle the kittens regularly they'll be ferral by about 10 weeks. I caught one kitten once trying to help it out with eye antibiotics and it bit right through thick leather gloves. It was very mean and very unhappy with me(but I fixed the eye infection).

Then we will get along like clams because I tend to do whatever I want to do as well!

If you put food in there regularly it "may" stay in there from time to time but they tend to mostly do whatever they want.

Day off work-- check. Told wife I'm going-- check. Put back some $$-- check. Can't wait-- check!!!

To do a Restoration so that it is factory perfect is impossible purely as there is no such word as perfect . The end result of shiney oversprayed paintwork is merely how the restorer/ preserver choses it to be . Knowone can replicate factory conditions /methods of construction or materials of construction . This hobby is purely about enjoying the brand & preserving the brand . So in theory there really is no such word as restoration . Preservation should be the word used to describe what we do here . We all do little bits n bobs to the tractors to PRESERVE the tractor whether that is a complete rebuild &respray or just change the spark plug. Just my opinion anyway Most of all enjoy what you do & have fun doing it & being anal about it can actually stop you having fun

My uncle being unfamiliar with a sterndrive boat thought that he should raise the outdrive whenever the boat is parked and with this type of outdrive it pretty much goes all the way up. Not sure what happened to the jet ski the driver claims he lost control....most likely he was a novice rider that was riding too fast and too close to shore and the docks.
