2 pointsWell, we made it safe and sound. Here's two pics to prove I'm here. This is me standing inside of one of the giant Sequoia trees in Mariposa Grove, and another taken this afternoon in the middle of Yosemite Valley with a view of Half Dome in the background. Weather is beautiful, and the views are incredible. No smoke.

2 pointsI haven't been to the Jacksonville show for probably a dozen years. I recall it being a nice one with lots of bigger tractors. The first WH I ever sold was at that show...a 1057 that got an IH hit and miss bolted to the frame. Anyway... Assuming my wife's schedule plays out, I plan to make it Saturday. Not yet sure how long I can stay since we have a boatload of things to do that weekend. I am hoping to bring the Senior and Lever if I can find the time to get things rigged up in advance. Won't really know until a few days before if I'll be bringing anything other than myself. So the question I have relates to the gates locking at 7am...what's the story there? Can you not bring anything into the show grounds after 7am? How about removing stuff? When are the gates open? I understand for safety and liability that they can't have people joyriding around the place putting spectators in peril, but how big of a load in/out window is really open? If anybody knows, please post it up! Steve

1 pointWell the new design finally arrived for this year's show t-shirts!!!!!! I will be going with the logo on the bottom left and in the second picture you can see the small logo that will be on the front left chest area. These shirts are a good quality and will be printed just as you see them on black t-shirts. I am currently taking pre-orders for them at this time. $14 per shirt and for shirts 2XL on up will be $15. These shirts can be shipped to those that would like one that are unable to attend the show this year. Pre-orders need to be in to me by September 28th so that I can have them in time for the Oct. 5 show. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a private message. We are exactly one month away!

1 pointI'm going to look at this tomorrow and I can't seem to figure out what year/model it is. Can anyone tell me what it is from this pic? Is there anything I need to look for with the trans. I don't know anything about the automatics. Thanks. Denny
-
1 pointTim's right, 21-10K801 is a 1985 model 310-8. But the decals on your hood don't look right, probably from an '86 or later model. Do you have any overall photos of your tractor? Also, are you talking about the drive belt from the engine to the transmission, or to an attachment? Do you see any numbers on the belt itself? If you can remove it, you could also take it to a Toro dealer if you have one close by. 7473 is the tractor drive belt (engine to trans.). I don't know if that would work with the replacement engine, but it's a good place to start.
-
1 pointYour model number might be 2110K801. My 310-8 is an '85 model and this is the number on mine. Jack's small engines may have a listing for the belt.
-
1 pointThat number may actually start as K241 which could make it anything from a C-series 10 horse all the way to a 1986 310. In any event, since that just can't be the original motor, I would buy a few in that range and return what doesn't fit. I have done this many times unfortunately.
-
1 pointThe motor in your 310-8 is a replacement engine as there were no recoil starters on any of the K or Magnum series engines on these tractors. You may just want to go to your neighborhood NAPA dealer and get a few belts to try. Your numbers on the tractor are not relating to a 310 K or Magnum tractor. I'll look deeper to see if that number is a completely different tractor.

1 pointWell, it followed me home. I think it must be a C121, it has a 12hp K301 in it. I bought this thing on faith that it'll run because it wouldn't start but after talking to the Lady I believe she was honest with me, We'll see. The wires at the ign. switch melted so instead of fixing it she got another mower. This thing has been rattle canned and I couldn't find a model/s.n. tag on the tractor, the engine and mower deck numbers are pictured below. Any info from those numbers would be appreciated. The tranny took a 5/16" wrench to open the tow valve, it opened right up with no problems. I plan on using this to mow the yard. I think the deck numbers are 0542sm04 (the last 4 could ba an A) 58399 Her Dad gave this tranny to me, his Dad was the Wheel Horse dealer in town back in the day. He still has 4 Horses and and several attachments. Yes, I did exchange contact numbers with him.

1 pointI know it has been done but the search feature is not my friend tonight, the newer engine do not have tapped exh ports the orig. RJ engine has them, I know guys have tapped them but I can't remember all that is need to do so, any help would be great, I sold a engine and the port needs to be tapped for the exh to fit and look correct, for the guy, I forgot al about that issue till he set me a email about it, I just don't mess with the early tractor enough.

1 pointNuts I believe are 3/4-16 UNF I use a low profile Nylock jamb nut.
-
1 pointUse the air-impact wrench with caution....it'll strip threads right off of the end of the spindle shaft. There should be a thick flat washer between the nut and blade.
-
1 pointWell im sure theres plenty of post and discussions on tires on this forum but really don't see a dedicated post on just tire pictures. I might be wrong and didn't dig deep enough? I gone through a lot of pictures and like a lot of other people like to see what the tires would look like on are tractors before we buy them. My goal was to buy aggressive tire look on my 520 Wheel Horse with a smooth ride and don t know even if that possible? Almost like im looking for a worn down ags tires. So if you got ags, atv, or golf tires on your wheel horse post your pictures here so we all could see what they look like and next time when we buy tires we have an idea what they would look like on are tractors. Thanks

1 pointAttention please!!! Class, class, CLASS!!!!! Alright now!! Oh mighty scorekeeper I wish to change one of my picks. Sorry Stevasaurus, we are going to take Cincy to win. The coach at Illinois is tough and he knows how to win, but this time I am going to switch, it doesn't happen often. As always Go Hawkeyes!!!!

1 pointThere will be a "tow valve" that you'll have to open (takes a flat blade screwdriver). It's on the left side of the machine, between the rear tire and the pump. A lot of them are stuck (rusted) so you can't turn them. BUT, even when you do open the tow valve, they're like trying to push a stubborn donkey!!!
-
1 pointSounds like you've found your problem, Terry. Hope it's running strong soon!

1 pointFirst tractor in line. My 704 with Tru-Powers on he back and Deestone tri-ribs on the front: Marvin with some carlise Ag's I got from Zeek: C-160 with some off shore ag's on rear and Duro ag's on the front:

1 pointRaiders (8, 9, 10, 12, 14) were kinda the predecessors of the 'C-100, C-120, C160 tractors. In that mix also is the Charger line, which have the automatic trans, and have styling more like Raiders. The 1971 and 72 Bronco 14 is another popular line (to me at least). Some just like to looks of one over another. Others swear by pulling power, utility, convenience, or whatever they are particular of / for. In any case, they are are quite durable and dependable, given common sense use and maintenance.
-
1 pointGlad to hear you got it going Terry! That is definitely some nasty stuff coming out of the tank. As far as the muffler goes, you have to cure high heat paint correctly, or it will burn off just like regular paint. I use header paint on mine, and I start them up, and let them run about 30 seconds, then shut them off to let them cool. I repeat this process several times, letting the engine run a little longer each time. After its cured properly, the paint won't discolor, or burn off. Matt

1 pointWhen surfing CL I saw these and had to get them and give them a try. Carlisle Swamp Pro in 26/12.5/12 with lugs that are 1.5" tall that actually have double edges on the lugs. They get traction and when taking too much bite with the FEL, even dig a hole on hard dry ground!
-
1 pointMartin, where did you or your son get your tires from? Love the Ag/Tri-rib look!!!!
-
1 pointAg's are cool but everyone's doing it... ! I went with these. They are 23x10.5x12 Carlisle All-Trails. They worked great this past winter with 75#'s of weight on each rear rim and NO chains. Mike....

1 pointWas just looking at some for my 520H (1993). They have the Inner (RH) listed as PN 112772 and Outer (LH) as 112771.

1 pointi'll try mine this month, even though it's an 84 i didn't think it fit in with last months c-series. 84 workhorse gt1600 repainted red by the previous owner. it's my wannabe 416-8 lol.
-
1 pointThanks for the respnses. I am liking this site already. The carb should be in in a few days, put that on change all the fluids, lube everything, then bring it homw. I will get some pics then. Some people I worked with asked me why I would want that one when I could have gotten the 18.5 hp Craftsman for less. I said because it's a Wheel Horse. A 10hp Wheel Horse will work a 20hp Crapsman to death. A Crapsman Lawn and Garden tractor is a lawn mower with big wheels, a Wheel Horse is a small farm tractor that can cut grass.
-
1 pointWell it is nothing real fancy but it is my worker. Love, love, love this machine!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2000 522xi with a 60" deck. Has power steering, cruise control, tilt steering and is one beast of a snow plowing machine.
-
1 pointthese are my deestone 23x8.50-12 tires. they ride rough on dry ground, but really dig in the dirt
-
1 pointA collective thanks. I'll pick up a pair today. I was cutting near dark yesterday and one bulb working just didn't cut it. Tankman, I noticied your Marine insignia. My youngest son is a Tracker at Court House Bay. I just some him this past weekend on a too brief 96. Thank you for your service.
-
1 pointI guess I'll throw my hat in the ring. From this to this in 8 hrs flat. I know I have at least one doubter out there but it can be done, and this tractor does look nice. I don't even know what yr. it is, don't care. (1985?) She has almost 2000 hrs on the clock and still purrs like a kitten. I cut at least an acre of grass a week with it, haul firewood, pull the sweeper, all the kinds of things Wheel Horse's were meant to do she does no problem. No trailer queen here, just an honest hard workin refurb.
-
1 pointThis is what I came up with for the tank mount/hood support. I'll use a setup similar to the original straps to secure the tank. Each "strap" will actually be three pieces. One piece over the top and then two pieces underneath from each side with a bolt to snug it up. At least that's the plan so far.
-
1 pointAnd now for the grand finale... I've got the quick hitch to add back still, but here is the tractor fully put back together and decals installed. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The paint doesn't have the automotive quality gloss that some restorations do, but for doing it myself in my garage with rattle cans, I am very happy. The decals from Redo your Horse look great. I can't wait to try out a few implements and take it to a show. So far, I have just ridden it around the yard pulling the kids in the wagon. Dave

1 pointI use a 1/2" to 3/4" adapter right off the port . I don't think that one inch of lenght at 1/2" makes any difference since the engine was designed with a 1/2" port anyway.
-
1 pointKelly I recently tapped one of the lil blue K91 engines and the exhaust port is almost perfect size for a 1/2 pipe thread. Just stuff in a paper towel to keep the shavings out and use plenty of lube and slowly tap the threads backing up when it gets tight and start over until your happy with the depth. After taping the threads i used a short 1/2`` nipple then a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter.
