2 pointsHi guys... The 702 is starting to look even better. Last week I put on a set of correct decals on, got rid of the 65 style decals. And today I put on some new tri ribs and some nice used 6-12 lugs. The wheels were also base/clear coated and look really nice! In the last week I have gotten some hl5 lights in deals. There are 3 pretty decent lights and one broken one. I am hoping to find some brackets for it or buy some reproduction brackets. I have been hoping to put a set of hl5 lights on this since I got it and I got these lights for next to nothing. Well anyways...here are some pictures of it.

2 pointsI was offered a free Craftsman GT3000 this morning. Not sure of the year, but I think it's around 1999 to 2001. Has the V-twin Kohler and a 10-Speed manual transmission (dual range 5-speed). The engine does not run. Owner says it was running fine and just stopped. Cranked until the battery went dead, and just left it under the deck for the last two years. Owner thinks its an ignition problem. So I am going to go pick it up this afternoon. Any Craftsman owners or Kohler V-twin techs out there who might be able to point me in a specific direction to look for a "no spark" problem? As always, I will check for the obvious and the simple as I tell everyone else on the older engines.

1 pointWas trolling Kijiji this morning and had a "barn sale" come up in my daily wheel horse search Tonight I brought home a 7-2521-9 Lawn Sweeper. Naturally it was filthy and been left sitting idle in a barn for who knows how long. It's missing the usual assortment of springs and bushings and who knows what else - but it's in my garage now. At least it would be if it fit. Bought my first Wheel Horse - a 414 8 - last October. Now I own a dozer blade, blower, rototiller, sweeper and garden trailer. I'm in deep. 1 pointAny one going to the 47th Annual Western N.Y. Gas and Steam Engine Rally Sept. 5-8th? Lots of tractors and a big Flea market and parts swap area. I hope to go Sat for the garden tractor pull. Last year big storms came thru and I stayed home. I got Friday off this year so if Sat looks bad I'm going on Friday! 1 pointWell I after months of work I bought out an old WH dealership that probably closed within the last 10 years and had been open since the 60's (I prefer to keep the name private). The building was collapsing on itself water everywhere, mold. just horrible. So my father (shynon) and I went to pick, pack and load everything that we could save. It took two days, my truck packed to the hills, my dads truck packed to the gills, a 5x8 trailer, and a 16ft car trailer! In the end I got the parts inventory (haven't looked through 10% of it yet) although it was in a wet environment and boxes were damp, wet and molding the parts look to be in pretty good shape. I got seven tractors all in some need of repair (most were a,b,c series) three of these had kohlers on them (8,12,16hp). Several kohler motors in some need of repair. All the WH literature we could save, manuals, brochures, dealership info, awards, and two microfiche machines (hopefully we can make one out of them). I also got an electric rear engine rider that I plan to restore for the fun of it, and a porter cable mower from the late 50's, Dealership signs, etc...... I'm probably forgetting some things but here they are the reasons we opened this thread for PICS!

1 pointJust picked up my new C 160 and had to share some pics. She's got lots of betina ( I think that's how you spell it). Mechanically it's great, just the breaks aren't working. I love it exactly how it is. Not touching a thing cosmetically.

1 pointHere is my son starting to bolt it all back together. He opted for Stainless Steel nuts and bolts where ever they will work out. We decided to line the battery box with rubberized undercoating to extend it's life as you can see in the pictures.

1 pointDo what Don1977 says.... I have to adjust mine a lot because I pull my deck off often, and mine spins after I remove the pin to move hoop, to take belt off the pto. So yea common problem....

1 pointMy guess is it isn't tight enough. To adjust pull the hair pin and turn the trunnion. Shorten to tighten, and lengthen to loosen.

1 pointYou can try adjusting the Trunion attached to the forward end of the lever rod (Pivot point) where it attaches to the Bellcrank above the PTO. I think you back it off the threads try one turn and see if it stays engaged. If not try another until it remains engaged.

1 pointThat's what happens if you don't get to the guy's house with the cash in hand. especially in an area where the pickings are slim. You don't have time to ask someone if it;s a good deal. You just have to consider weather you want it and how much you can afford. I would have thought that was a little high for that myself but with the extras you could have sold some of those to get the cost down.

1 pointGT14s are great, I got a few hours of seat time on mine today clearing a tree that had fallen. Mine came with a front end loader and a cat.0 3 point York landscape rake, I paid $1800. Had to drive to NJ to get it, but I love it. Used parts guy is right, are hard to come by in NC. With all those attachments you have a good price. Keep us posted and send along some photos.

1 pointEveryone says I'm weird and they are right! I really don't follow college football. When I was young I watched the Notre Dame replays on Sunday morning with Lindsay Nelsen but that was it. I'd watch Bud Wilkinson doing the college football report on Sat afternoon but only because The American Sportsman was on next. My son watches no college football at all but knows everything about every college player eligible for the NFL draft. Been that way since he was 5. My record will be interesting as I'll pick on intuition alone. Now the NFL is a different matter. Big game for the Pack against the Chefs

1 pointExcellent report!! I can confirm that I will be there with two walk aways , a sickle mower, a sulky, and a plow. I'll bring one of my 10x10 easy ups, so for who ever is planning out the spaces needed, that what size I would like. I wont be there until early Saturday morning. See you men on then.

1 pointActually I have done two of those conversions to a K-341 in a C-175. You would have to have the shaker plate for a K-341 because the plate for the K-17 does not have the hole in it for the sump in the 341 pan. Of course you could cut a hole in the shaker plate you have but I don't know if the mounting hole for the engine will line up. Another thing you have to do is move the shaker plate mounting blocks ( there is another set of holes already in the frame ) or the engine will be too far forward as I recall. Everything will line up then on the PTO. You would also have to change the choke and throttle cables because they are too short to reach the front of the K-341. It makes a fine tractor though when you are done. The K-341 has plenty of power. Here is a picture of the last one I did.

In regards to shipping , using USPS Priority is smartest move you could make - they are reliable and the associated cost is very reasonable given the fact that those books are shipping all over the place . Don't sweat the complaints , some folks are miserably happy - just the way it is . The greatest part of this hobby other than the tractors themselves is the dedicated folks that help pass along information and share knowledge , without these contributions we would suffer dearly . People should remember that most of this is done with little thanks and a tremendous amount of work involve in getting things like this done . Insensitivity with complaints leads to things not being offered and the hobby would suffer as a result . Keep up the good work , and thanks for offering such a nice reference book that will be enjoyed and passed on to future generations . Sarge

1 pointHoly crap.... What kind of grade were you looking at? Some of the corrosive gas tubing or something? This is all you'd need..... Or you could maybe go up to puncture resistant for about $16/ft if you mow a lot of sticks/rocks.

1 pointGood luck with the cub Cadet if you've never had one before. Although they are a good tractor built tough as nails, they are not quite as easy to work on as Wheel Horses.

1 pointMounted the rebuilt carb up on one of my back up motors today... has a crisp, snappy throttle response, and a nice smooth idle too. I'll give two thumbs up for the Berryman's.

1 pointJust wondering here but I use to use Red Devil Lye to clean old Railroad Lamps. Mix up the lye and hot water in a bucket and submerse. It was some nasty stuff. It works like a charm. I Don't know about putting aluminum carbs in there. Just might not have nothing left. But I will tell you that lye will eat anything. (Just a thought and not responsible for any chemical catastrophes)

1 pointStrangest thing. I moved and and let it sit all day and not one drop of oil is under it in the new spot..oh well I guess she fixed herself! And yes I do agree with "shaking her down" for a bit. Thanks guys. Im new so I have a lot to learn.

1 pointHave always been very impressed with the way mine performs...just, it's buried so deep in the shed, I don't have the ambition to dig it out every fall. Usually, seems easier to just blow the leaves into a windrow and mulch 'em up.
