I joined Redsquare a few years ago & every day since then i visit the site to catch up on what is going on in the world of wheel Horse tractors . In the few years that i have joined i have made some good friends & some REALLY GOOD FRIENDS . & most of these people i have never even met in person. As well as making some friends, Redsquare has given me the chance of owning some particular tractors that would never been available in my own country . I have also joined other online forums & there isnt a single one of them that gives back as much FREE & INTERESTING & HELPFUL information as Redsqure does. I am not a particularly mechanically minded person so would struggle with mechanical problems that can arise with these tractors but its oh so reassuring that when something does go wrong i have on hand the best FREE manual that anyone could buy. Redsquare has now grown to have many members all who can bring their good or bad experiences & what a great place to be able to share those experiences & also Knowledge. Since i become the owner of my first Wheel Horse Tractor one of the BEST investments that i made was spending just a few $$ on becomeing a supporter of what has to be the best online forum there is So if i could give any bit of advice to anyone that visits this Forum , Do yourself favour & become a Redsquare supporter as it will be the best tractor Manual you will ever own

This past week I finally got around to getting the new twin together. 45 cube Kohler Command with recast heads, big valves, roller cam, home built intake. RPM's should be in the mid 11,000's. Here are some pics. Hopefully the weather improves tomorrow so I can break it in! Had to cut a few holes in one of my spare hoods to get it to fit. Ran out of time to get it painted. I have been working on this for a few weeks now and have finally finished it. It was pretty much a basket case when I got it but I had enough parts to get it back together. It has a K-321 14hp. in it but it runs good and doesn't smoke. It has some new parts and stuff I had in the shop. Enjoy the pictures. There are more on my web site.

I have an Ark 550 on a 520. I had made a mount for the front support rods. It mounts where the mule drive goes. I obviously found that was not a great way to go. It moves when I put down pressure on the bucket. So I need to make a solid bolted mount on the frame. Wondering if any of you have a loader on a C,300,400,500 series and could show me a pic or several of how yours is attached on the front. Looks like I need to make a drop down on the front support to be able to open the hood still. Any help will b e greatly appreciated.

I just bought a wheel horse C175, it is hydro drive and lift. My question is it normal to have to hold the forward rod to keep going forward or is there a way to set it at a speed you want and let it go? I have always had manual trans and never a hydro.

Yeh that will be a cool project for sure either way you go! Here is a pic of one my buddy and I built for a 92 year old man who wanted to drive it around at tractor shows. I FINISHED THIS PROJECT AND SOLD IT TO A FRIEND, A TORO DEALER IN MARIETTA,OHIO. HE WILL RE-SELL IT AT FULL RETAIL. IT IS 1997 312-8 WITH A 37" DECK. TRACTOR TURNED OUT GREAT WITH 419 HOURS ON IT. I GAVE $700 FOR IT PLUS $50 (GAS) SOME PAINT AND ONE CLUTCH SPRING. SOLD IT FOR $1350. NOW I'M LOOKING FOR ANOTHER WHEEL HORSE. HERE IS THE FINISHED AND BEFORE PROJECT. I HAD 40-45 HOURS IN THIS ONE BOWTIE

I havn't seen it myself, but I have a customer, that has a Toro dump cart he told me about that has a tailgate that works like a dump truck, or it removes, he said it is factory.

Can only endorse what Neil and everyone else has already said. This Forum is about the only one I spend time on now. I 'Lurked' for a year or so initially, but had to 'Stick my head over the Parapet' and become a member. Although it still felt like I was taking out, but not putting back in. So I became a Supporter pretty soon after. Glad I did. It's got to be one of the most well managed, designed, diverse, informative, friendly, enjoyable global Forums around. It's alive with good people, helpful, free from any malice and always like a laugh. And all built around our common affections for, and possession of those little Red GTs !!!.

Yes I agree with all the comments here. Since I first found this forum I have been hooked just as bad as my affliction to Wheel Horses. When I first started working with mowers as a way to supplement my social security I checked out a lot of forums and found them to be lacking. You know how it is, you go there and no one has been there in weeks so if you have a question, good luck getting an answer. Then I found Red Square and I'll tell you, you never have to worry about that here. I do check multiple times a day and in more than one section. Speaking of sections, the manuals section is the best on the the Internet by far. My hats off to the founders and moderators here. There was a lot of serious thought in setting up this site to be user friendly. As far as the members and supporters ( I'm one ) here, you couldn't ask for a more informed bunch of addicts. People here do not get all involved in making things complicated. It's normally easy to understand when a problem is worked over here. In other words usually even a newbie can understand how it should work. I am also amazed at how many members here are from all over the world. You know from Europe, Norway, Australia and on and on. I really enjoy reading about Wheel Horses and their owners. I was a GM mechanic for 20 years or so and never worked on these tractors at all but W/H's are simply the easiest ones I've seen to get back into working condition. Believe me when I say that I have worked on some others that were a nightmare by comparison. Getting a little carried away here. This is the best place you'll find for the information you need.

The easiest way I've found is to borrow the neighbor's pickup with a 8'western plow, it only cost's a couple of lawn cuts when they are gone camping I the summer.

Yes....when its too loose the speed control with either move all the way forward or return to neutral. Tighten the nut on the friction plate in small increments and then go for a ride and repeat the process until you get the results you need. The motion control level will stay where you put it then.....cruise control....

I personally like hydro tractors too....Even though I have fallen in love with my new C-160 8 Speed. I agree with Lynn's idea of firming up things with some bar stock or maybe angle and cutting a set down to fit your needs. Its a shame you don't have more room. The full-size C series isn't that much bigger than the others and having that hydro handle close-by sure makes them easy to run. My son loves tearing around on my Dads '73 12 auto. He drives it much better than my 416

It means that I traveled more than 2000 miles to see that big WH show in PA.....not once but TWICE...just to meet a great buch of guys like Eldon, Buzz, Jerry, Doc in KY, Duke, Larry((and wife Judy) in MO, Wild Bill, Mr Cecil Pond & Betty, Billy in VA, Bruce Marion, Mike Martino,...and of course the guy with the WH tatto on his left arm...yep, that would be TT...and Steve and his dad, and don't forget Charlie....and a ton of other WH fans that signed your name in my Atlas map!!! Alot of water has run under the bridge since the ole days of the WH group on yahoo...thanks to # 5 (Karl) for the invite for a great ride!!! It also means that I have way to many horses in the horse barn....but it has been a fun ride since I took a ride on my first horse back in 1973!!!!!!

That's a steal at $125 for everything. If that is all he is asking you probably could get it for $100. There are plenty of guys on this site that would offer him $75 and then once running, sell it all for $300+

Awesome! The thing that caught my eye, besides the tractors, is the campers there. It looks like there's a lot of guys bringing RV's and setting up camp right in the show?

Maybe it's been hot down there with all that hot air coming out of DC, but up north here I don't think there has been a stretch more than a week with temps over 85 degrees.

I think it always seems the opposite! It's worse when your not prepared!

If it weren't for RedSquare I would have nothing to do at lunch time at work..... But seriously I used to hang out at the yahoo group and knew of RedSquare, don't know why I didn't switch earlier. I have been in other groups(non-wheelhorse) and this is the best group of people by far very rarely do flame wars and fights pop up here and if they do they are usually over quickly.

It will only be a bad winter IF you prepare for it.

RedSquare has become my vice along with my collection of Wheel Horse tractors. I too look here at least once a day, and more often on the weekend. I love to see and hear the trials and tribulations and success of others, as it has helped me many times. I try to add help & support when I can, but some may think I am "cocky" all the time. I have thought about being a supporting member many times, and think it is high time I do so. Thank you for posting this, as it has caused me (and others) to step up. RedSquare can't have "pledge week" like PBS! Oh, I like PBS too!

I've been thinking about this lately & lm glad someone brought it up. I'm pretty into the 4 wheeling thing & a diehard Can-Am owner / enthusiast. I m a mod & regular on the forum http://www.can-amtalk.com/forums/ & it's nice to log on here & see folks interested in helping each other & showing off their home brewed creations & ingenuity , instead of bickering & who has the machine that will mow the lawn or till the garden in less than 5 seconds . Thanks to all of you , YOU are the ones who make this forum a cool place to share things with those with a common interest .

yes neil, karl is right on with his comments.... back to your question though, red square means much the same to me as you have already mentioned. its a place i come to multiple times a day, when ever i can. i enjoy the friendships on here, ive met a few of you and spend time with you at shows, swap meets etc when i can get there. terry (vinyl guy) is the closest member to me, about 20-25 minutes away and i enjoy going to visit and working on new or oddball stuff that i want for my builds or just for him to add to the store for you guys. i dont get to do that as often as i would like but its always a good time........ i come to this forum for info, to give info and share my experiences working on my tractors. ive been a supporter almost since i first joined and i consider it an important thing to do. it would be a shame to not have the forum around because of $$$$. and the amount is a very small price to pay to have an abundance of info available at my fingertips. i have saved much much more than what i contribute by the info i have gathered from all of the members on red square......

If my 175 looked that good, I don't think I would work it either! This is mine which I've been 'tending to' since '92. Just keeping up with maintenance and out of the rain. I've thought about restoring, but she don't look too bad as-is all original.

Great job on the Restoration! It looks great and your thread is what got me thinking about restoring mine that and the fact my grandpa gave it to me before he passed away.

I just got done with one ( C-101 ) - scroll down threads in this section of the forum ( also my Avatar ) you-ll see it from tranny tore out to completion - it's not the best restore in the world, it's far from the worst - I originally started on it with intentions of working it like I always did - after it was 80-90% done I changed my mind- it's going to be my wagon tractor only for hauling produce out of the garden to the house , checking my hog traps and things like that - light duty so to speak- I'm still not 100% done, still need the reflectors on the rear fenders and the dash plate done - haven't had the time plus I'm enjoying my new tractor - if you're anything like me after it gets all prettied up and fixed you'll want to keep her that way . P S I put a mower on it one time- mowed the yard - got it dusty and it was a unanimous decision by me and the wife - no more - 34 years of good service I'm give'n her a rest. Here's one of the pics

Is it a 'worker' ? or a 'toy' ? I would say if it's a worker, just do what you have to do to keep it running and 'preserved' in it's present state. If it's a 'toy' and you know yourself well enough to be sure you can COMPLETE the restoration rather than rip it apart and start the job and then not finish and eventually lose parts because they are strewn around the barn... (yeah, I'm kinda speaking from experience here! SOMEDAY I will finish the VW) then go ahead and restore it... In the end, we can't decide for you. What do YOU want to do ?

Very nice ATV tires, must be 24". Those might even be able to climb some of your small hills. With weights, you'll never get stuck. And, isn't it lemmings over in Norway?
