3 pointsJust got the latest two NOS k91s today for a total of 3 of this type in the collection.

2 pointsI've been looking for a flail mower for quite some time. Finally found one at a local auction site, thought I was going to get it for $40. Ended up getting bid up at the last minute and paid over $500 for it but I'm happier than all get out. Now I just gotta do a little fabrication to set the mount up. John

2 pointsI can see how it's gonna play out: Kens gonna buy it and do a nice restore on it. Bring it to Zagray and Kent in the fall. Then the winter hit's and that little seed you planted is going to grow and next thing you know, you and Steve are going to strike some kind of deal/trade and that will be that. Then next spring, Steve will flip it for double the money! I think I have seen this before

2 pointsIt all began when I listed a C-101 hood decal set in November 2007. I was bombarded with questions of "Do you have this decal or can you make this decal" Not just a few questions but literally hundreds of emails from Wheel Horse collectors needing graphics to restore their prized vintage tractors. I was contacted soon after by One of our most knowledgeable and passionate members who thought I should take a look at the forum as it would be invaluable to me in my quest to perfect all the templates for these iconic American Made Garden Tractors. The rest is history as they say. But that is not so much the story I planned to tell here today but a lead in to my addiction. More than a few times in the first 4 years I had been asked why I do not have a Wheel Horse. My standard answer was (I have no need for a tractor) or so I thought. A local friend was in my shop and seeing all the Wheel Horse graphics laying around said he had a little Wheel Horse. He thought it was a Lawn Ranger. I told him I would buy it if he ever wanted to sell. A year later we met on a motorcycle escort for a Local Fallen Hero and he offered it to me so I bought it sight unseen. I remember telling TT in a phone conversation back in the early days that I would never have a need for a tractor and would probably never own one. His response was something on the order of ( Wrong my friend, You will have one and probably more than one.) Right here is where I need a smiley eating crow. I now have two tractors. the Little Lawn Ranger and a 1993 520-H. I certainly am a hopeless HORSE-A-HOLIC. I got my 520 at the Big Show after getting advice from my good friend TT and then Eldon and Ken found the best available 520-H for the money. They asked Lola (Mrs. Redo) how much I had in my tractor fund and she said she would put in a bit more if needed to do the deal as she did not want to listen to me cry about the empty trailer all the way home to Illinois. She's a good wife. I let her ride it once. It seems now I find a use for it almost everyday. We rent a condominium across from our shop and the maintenance guy does a terrible job of grinding the lawn with his plastic JD. so I asked him if he would mind me giving the 520 a workout on our building. So yesterday I set the deck and cut the lawn about 2.5 inches. The rear discharge Deck cuts great. Thanks Eldon! Also the shrubs have been horribly neglected so I hooked up our old M/C trailer behind the 520 and started cutting and hauling away volunteer trees and cactus. I also mow the lot north of our shop and they finally got around to tearing down the old shack of a house and clearing the lot. So this morning I used the 520 to pull a rotten stump then hauling a bunch of tree branches and cocklebur weeds to a burn pile. Seems I had forgotten how much I enjoyed yard work and how important it is to have a good garden tractor to make things easier. Most importantly the friendships we have made over the years and the common bond of this hobby are more important to us than the business reasons that got us involved over six years ago. We so much enjoyed meeting so many members at Big Show and can not wait to go again. Finally remembered how to embed a video to share.

2 pointsIn 1974 my father bought a brand new C160 Automatic, 36" RD deck, dump cart and Parker Sweeper to replace our junkyard Springfield. During my mowing years, I used this tractor every week. We didn't have a snow blade or blower so it was a summer tractor only. My father passed away in 1991, and my mother kept the tractor. When I bought my house in 1993, I bought my brand new 416-H because of the experience with the C-160. Well, my mother moved and no longer needed a tractor, gave the C160 to my brother and God knows what happened to it but sad to say it's gone. I had wanted to have a father / son project and thought what better tractor to get than a C-160 Automatic. Looking around all I could find was an old Electro and C-120 Automatic. A short time later Eldon (kj4kicks) found a C-160 somewhere in the midwest. It ran but wasn't much to look at. He offered to go pick it up (he was going that way anyway) bring it back and trade the Electro and C-120 for it. I agreed because it would complete the cycle from my father, to me to my children. Well, I went to pick up my C-160, expecting to get a rusty old tractor, but instead I received this: It turns out that with a collection from the members, and Eldon's awesome talent, he dismantled the tractor, painted it, and put it together. There was only a few odds and ends for me to complete. It was a complete surprise and I am still in awe of what everyone had done for me. This is one C-160 which is truly a RedSquare tractor, and it is my entry for this month's category!

1 pointTrying to find things we can do as a family of 6 has led me to get a larger boat with a cuddy so the kids can get out of the sun and wind so here is my latest investment I picked it up cheap since it needs a lower unit but I have connections to get the parts cheap. It's a 21ft. Four Winns 215 Sundowner with a 230hp Mercruiser (305cid Chevy). I was able to pick it up for about half of what the trailer is worth so I figured I couldn't go wrong besides that I have found out that parting out boats on ebay and craigslist has a pretty good payout, this is the 4th boat I picked up this year. I want something bigger some day but I will need to either get a bigger truck or keep it in a marina/harbor. Previous owner named it....I will be trying to figure out a different name, suggestions welcome.

1 pointNo I'm not new on here, just unable to log in on my old username, which is a pain as it's my real name! Anyway if you knew a bloke called Simon Smith with a Dual Drive Wheelhorse then you know who I am

1 pointA Week ago today I picked up my first Wheelhorse, a C-105. This tractor had belonged to one of my uncles and is in need of some TLC. The deck on the C-105 is a 36" rear discharge, and without having pulled it off the tractor I known it needs a tensioning pulley, and the bracket for adjusting the deck on the right hand side was broken and is currently jury rigged. I have some wiring to do, and need to tack the right side of the hood back to the top.... I am sure there will be a long list as I get to know the tractor better. Today I picked up my second Wheelhorse (I can feel the addiction starting already...) a GT-1100 I was able to mow with the GT-1100 today with no problems. I picked it up off Craigslist for $200. It is somewhat cobbled together. Someone had painted it baby blue (sorry for the bad pic) It has an enging shroud off another B/S engine (logo is upsidedown .) I am intending to use steering, and deck parts as well as the seat, and sell the rest. I may just keep the deck off the GT since I prefer the side discharge. From what I have seen so far it looks like the steering parts have the same part numbers between the two tractors. This all started because I needed a mower to replace a Husquvarna that came with a Kohler Courage engine. I have no gripes about the mower, but the engine left much to be desired. I am hoping to post my progress here and bounce around ideas.

1 pointI've been looking for a nice tub cart for a while, this one is a 1968 model. It still has the original tires, I don't think this ever sat outside. I hooked it to my RJ and had two of my girls try it out.

1 pointI put a set of fatties on my Commando today. Definitely looks a lot better with 12's than the stock 10's I thought. Fun little tractor for pulling stuff around.

1 pointI asked on here about it, and was quite skeptical about trying it. However I just lubed, and sharpend up a recently aquired deck, and decided to slap it on and mow my neighbors grass. (Mine was already cut) To my surprise, I was able to stay in 3rd high the entire time. You can hear the gov open up a bit while the M12 powers thru it, but judging by the sound of the exhuast notes, I don;t beleive the engine sounded overworked. Next few weeks I will try again and try to mow up the hill the opposite way to see how it does. Now I can see why the 12HP was so popular. It is all the power you need, maybe not as fast though. http://youtu.be/4UyxveuxxfE

1 pointCleaned up the carb and started to drive it this afternoon. The hydro is strong, and the steering is very tight. I put a 36" mower deck on it, borrowed a belt from another mower and mowed part of the lawn too. I think I have a very nice 875, and I am afraid the wife might want this....... Not sure why I have the dumb look on my face!
-
1 pointNow there's an attachment you don't see everyday. After it's set up, can we see a little video of that one in action?
-
1 pointThat is a nice tractor in the video. Your mods and work look nice. An 8 speed would definitely be very cool in one. I also have a C-81 that I really enjoy a lot as well. The combination of the 8 speed and 8hp kohler is extremely versatile.
-
1 pointI did a few mods to mine, but unfortunately, sold it. I want to build another like it, but put in an 8speed. I am a huge fan of the 8hp kohler. I prefer it over the larger engines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89giUWDLjHg

1 pointSuburban serial locations. (These are the general locations... some may vary occasionally.) 1958/59 RJ-58 - left frame rail just behind the hood. 1959 RJ-59 - As far as I know of, no one has ever documented finding one. 1960 Suburban - Stamped into the metal throttle/choke plate just under the upper screw. 1961 Suburban - early used the top section of the 1960 plate, cut off and screwed to the hood stand. 1961 Suburban - later used a decal on the right frame rail ahead of the foot peg.

1 pointThats very cool Taylor! Always nice to meet new people, and see a traveling museum!

1 pointFinished spreading river stone around the house today. Don't mean to "brag", but man a loader on a Horse sure save's on the back pains.

1 pointWouldn't be worth the time if I was 15 minutes away! To reply to several later posts farther down, no I don't think much of those later models and $4500 to $5000 is way to much for my bankroll. Also I too have never owned a Wheel Horse newer than a 1991. The only newer one I would buy, if the opportunity arose , would be a 520. I had a fellow, a member here I believe, that came from Ohio to buy a 42" deck, and he had two of those for sale. I think he said one had 0 hours and the other .2 hour. He wanted $5000 each. Now you have to understand I am not a collector really. I just like to refurbish these and find someone to put them back to work. I do have two that will be here a long time but one is not really a Wheel Horse. That is the one I have for my Avitar , just the sheet metal is W/H, and the other is the '89 520H I have. Of course if I find a newer 520H the '89 will be for sale. I can't say I am a purest like some here as I will modify one with a newer engine. I have nothing against Kohler twins as long as they don't have Courage any where on them. I have become kind of attached to the 656 I have though but I have found that the more you keep the more they sit and that isn't good for any of these. They were meant to be used and sitting does not agree with my horses. As far as being no more made wasn't there a thread here a month or two ago about some new Wheel Horses. Those were in name only and I wouldn't have one of those either.

1 pointMy Spirit of 76 C-160. Smoked like a chimney when I first got it. A little Seafoam in the oil and working it hard cleared it up. It does all my mowing and most of the snow removal. Customized lift lever for one hand operation. Electric fuel pump installed. Killed the hydro pulling a fertilizer 3 yrs ago. Rebuilt with E-bay parts. Nice comfy seat. No tear downs on this tractor, just work. 817 hrs.

1 pointThis was the first tractor that dad and I tackled to clean up and put back in to good working order. It was the feature model for the 2012 WHCC show in Arendtsville, PA where it was revealed. We had a great time and learned many things through the process of doing our first machine. We were pretty pleased with the results and have had a lot of fun on it. It now has the correct seat and is getting a sickle bar mower cleaned up to install on it. Here she is........
