Took this as a basket case. It was literally in boxes of various sizes. Traded an old compound bow for it but it had a bad engine. I rebuilt the engine and it runs true now. Just finished assembly. Waiting on decals and drive belt.

Well I finally got around to doing some much needed tree trimming today. It's cool day but a bit windy and I used the tools available to me like so many of us do here. Here's a few pics of trimming the huge pin oak along side the driveway. Getting to work... I think you can see the B-60 in the background with the trailer to haul the brush to the burn pile... a couple more of me reaching new heights... Things had gone pretty well to this point, but I just couldn't shake the feeling that I was "out on a limb", and then it happened, a gust of wind sent me scrambling for something to grab... and away I went... .................................................................WARNING!! THE NEXT PIC IS GRAPHIC!! CHILDREN AND SQUEAMISH ADULTS SHOULD NOT LOOK BELOW v v v v v v v !!!! They say it's all fun and games till somebody breaks a hip... I think I branched out.

Wife says I have 'too many WHs' (an oxymoron if ever there was one) but a change of tack was prudent. Until recently genuine WH attachments / implements for my stable consisted only of decks and a couple of snow / dozer blades. Back in April I started acquiring some more - not an easy task here in the UK as they're not plentiful so the prices go high. I'm trying to stick to things that we can actually use so back in April a 10 cu. ft. dump cart joined the collection. Not in the best of conditions but it will restore ok. The original wheels were rusted through hence the non-factory substitutes for now. A couple of weeks back a Lawn Roller was added. Pretty good condition for its age just the end dust caps( I guess you'd call them) between the roller and frame need attention or replacing somehow for appearance sake but fully functional none the less. PO had used water for weighting hence the bung is out at present letting it slowly dry out inside as I prefer to use sand but it will need to be bone dry inside first. This week I scored a neat little haul so I think that this will be it for a while or I'll be accused of having 'too many attachments' (another oxymoron to my mind). These three are all from the same 'barn find' (not made by me sadly) but the vendor only wanted to keep the Commando tractor that I guess was purchased new along with these back in the 60s. The barn had apparently partially collapsed leading to some water damage over the years the stuff had lain undiscovered. The little dump cart was worst affected where it had stood tipped up with the rear end in water for many years. It's scap value only to most I guess but to me it was worth what I paid for it on the basis that the wheels were good and I need a pair for the bigger cart. Discovered on collection that they had been fitted with new tires not long before the stuff was left to rot in the barn and are in A1 condition - bonus! Having got it, it now seems a shame to scrap it but it's not really worth the time and effort to repair in steel but I 'm thinking maybe of using fibre glass matting to cover the inside but I'd have to make a wooden former to get it to duplicate the orignal rim profile where it's missing. These little dump carts do come up from time to time in good condition here in the UK and I wasn't originally looking for one but maybe it's a shame to waste this one as it could be made useful again if not totally original. Opinions welcomed. The Grader Blade is in very good condition but as appears often the case with these the pivot pin has seized so it's soaking in penetrating fluid at present though gut feeling is that it's going to need heating up to achieve any movement. So today's work focused on the Aerator which, altough water had obviously stood in the weight tray, was in otherwise pretty much operational condition and all the spike wheels turned. Like the cart, this had obviously been fitted with new wheels which saw little use before being abandoned. Oddly at some point the adjuster plates that the wheels are mounted on had been switched round so that there were effectively three different transportation heights and just one spiking setting. Anyway, sorted that, cleaned up and oiled the spike wheels, straightening a few spikes here and there, managed to free up the draw bar which had seized at the unusable tilt it had been left in, greased the wheels and.... by the end of the day with the shadows getting longer, aerated some grass and discovered that these are actually really good at doing the job. I still need a few more to complete the set but I thought I'd share my 'pictoral shopping list' with you as it's an Amnor (Begium) publication. Picked up this original bar light with the bug eye lenses at a local tractor show today and plan on putting it on my 701,I'm not sure what switch to use or where to mount the switch? was it just a toggle switch? any help from the Red Square gang would be great ....thanks...

I decided I should make better use of my cargo trailer after being inspired by buckrancher and jimt1971's setup's. I figured I'll give it a trial run at the June show.

Figured I would post a few before and after pics of a 702 that was primed with red oxide primer then put in a shed for the past 30 years. I was not sure what I would find under the primer but I figured it had to be better than what it was. I used 1000 grit wet sandpaper and took my time. It is not finished yet but looking pretty good. I painted the wheels with navajo white rustxo with a brush. I also painted the tires with miller's tire paint. And of course.... a little salad dressing on top-lol!

How I fixed engine idle hunting problem on 1996 520H. I belived problem was a lean idle mixture problem. Problem has mostly gone at high speed and better with choke on. Looking at Onan engine manual (on16_24h.pdf) page 7-4-2 figure 4a Carburetor middle drawing it shows a TAMPER-RESISTANT PLUG OVER IDLE MIXTURE NEEDLE. I was sure the problem was with this covered idle needle value. The engine slows down do to lean mixture, then governor speeds engine up so engine does not stop, then this repeats. The fix is to remove idle needle value, clean, re-assemble and adjust. Remove the muffler to gain access to the right side of carburetor. Looking at right side of carb on lower left is accelerator pump. Pump is round and held on with 3 screws. To right of pump there is 2 temper resistant soft metal round plugs. A larger one above a smaller one. The lower smaller plug is the one we want to remove. I used a small nail. Tap the nail into center of small plug making hole. Using nail, bend to side and pull plug out. In my case plug was very soft and came right out. Remove idle needle valve with small flat screwdriver. Using small spray tube on can of carburetor cleaned spray cleaner into needle valve hole. Give valve hole several good shots of cleaner. Clean idle needle valve and re-install. Very lightly turn needle until it bottoms in hole. Now turn back out (counter-clockwise) 2 turns. The muffler has a bracket on bottom. The bolts for bracket go through part number 113874 Engine bracket (3318-524 Parts Catalog sheet 24). Install muffler, leaving off the 113874 engine bracket. With engine bracket removed we can run engine and still get to idle needle value and make idle adjustment. Start engine. In my case idle was about 2200 RPM with NO hunting. Let engine warm up. Using a long small blade flat screwdriver turn needle valve clockwise slowly until idle is about 1400/1600 RPM. Re-install 113874 engine bracket. I have made this repair on 2 model 520H Wheel Horse tractors, fixed both.

I've had my C-160 for over 3 years now. It came with crappy looking running boards and a rattle behind the belt guard with the belt engaged. I decided to fix the rattle when I got new running boards. Last year I parted out another C-160 and had the running boards sandblasted. I Primed them 2 month later when I got them back from the blaster. I finally painted them last month. Now it's 95 deg. outside and I decided today is the day. Must be the excitement of the upcoming show. I fixed the rattle with a wave washer where the belt control pivots.

Try to find one from a 76 or 77 c-160 it will have the rebuildable front plate. I would be hesitant to use any other as the ports might not be at the correct angles. I have cut the earlier type open and repacked it so it can be done but more work than the later style.

I'm led to believe that some members like seeing pictures of tractors at work and some of you may remember I picked up a second D-200 earlier in the year. No deck, no three point, authentic rat look, and dirt bike mufflers (I've come to love the sound) but it did have a ball hitch front and rear so here's what it's used for. My son has a boat and he was determined to get it out in the water today. I've no idea what it weighs on its trailer but it's a 17 ft Maxum so I guess at least well over a ton and a half. Manoevering the trailers in a tight space is far easier using the 'D' than previously with the Grand Cherokee. (There's always a way of justifying the need for another ) The D pulls it well even with its grass tires though I'll get it some 'ags' sometime. The box trailer needed pulling out as well as it hadn't been unloaded since we returned from a show last weekend. Inside was the Lister Autotruck he's just finished restoring so again a similar weight being pulled up a slight incline. Andy

Another vote for the 520-H (or 520-HC). It's hard to argue with that kind of power and capabilities. And, if the 20hp Onan is not your cup of tea they can be repowered easily. FWIW, I like the unique sound of the Onan and it has power to spare. The 48 and 60 inch side discharge decks are great on the 520 too. As far as reliability: mine has been flawless for 23 years and the Onan exhibits no sign of giving up anytime soon.

There are a few different types of bearing pullers that might come in handy... Here's a pic of my switch and bracket. Sitting in the seat, it mounts on the right hand side, at the top of the hood stand, where the gas tank bolts on. Kelly may have an original switch or you can buy one similar at NAPA. This is the only pic I could find of it mounted on my tractor

If she is indeed running way to rich because of the carb then both plugs should look about the same, probably very sooty (or even worse wet). (If they are the same then I would doubt that you have an internal engine problem unless the same thing happened to both cylinders...which would be unlikely...) If the plugs do not look the same, then I would be more concerned about valve issues/ head gasket issues in one cylinder . The bit about silicone on the head gasket is not a great thing. Spray copper sealant is all that should ever be used on a head gasket. I can mail you the leakdown gauge whenever you want it. paul

I was afraid with the lack of windows it was going to get way too toasty to try to do it without one. I plan on getting a large screen for the cargo door for days when it not so hot, but I have to much going on right now in the way of time and money to get that done before the show. As far as the power strip, it rated at 15 amps and the AC draws about 10 so I figured I'll just keep an eye on it. I'm not really going to have much more draw on the strip except for a light. Although it's not in the picture, I also have a portable toilet for it too for those "middle of the night #1 calls" so I don't have to get out and pee on Bob's tent

I may have a change of plans. Wasn't going to go due to the fact my son has graduation from middle school on Friday evening and the wife won't let me out of it. I really didn't want to go just for Saturday but I think I just might do it. If I have the truck and trailer all set to go the Graduation should be over by 8:00pm and it's a little over 5 hour ride for me to get to the show I should be there by 1:30 am or so. Just have to decide if I want to do it.
