2 pointsHey everybody, somewhat new to the Wheel Horse's here. I've got a 66' (?) 1276 and a 74' (?) GT-14. My grandpa bought both of them brand new and they've been in the family ever since. I pulled the 1276 out of the shed where it's lived for the past 18 years, gave it a little TLC and have been happily using it every week to cut the grass here at the house. (Cuts a whole lot better than I ever imagined might I add) Just got the GT-14 out of my dad's garage tonight and brought it over to my house and am in the middle of doing the same thing. I've got a few attachment's for it, too. Not real sure on exactly what all is there, but will be finding out this weekend when I dig them all out. Anyways, I hope to get some good information (and possibly be able to give some too!) P.S. Would post a picture but they are both kinda tore apart at the moment and aren't too pretty, will get some soon

2 pointsFirst and foremost I would like to thank you all for your support and patience with Lola and I over the past 5 years. Through all the ups and downs. It has been a journey for sure. My customer support has been all over the place from terrible to excellent and you have always been more than kind and understanding. Thank You Now for the good News!! Due to changes in our lives and the graduation of our daughter who is now a registered nurse and gainfully employed, Lola and I can make some changes that will allow us to focus only on our Wheel Horse customers and one major client. This will allow our customer service to improve immensely. As well as allow us time to ride our bike and attend tractor shows. We will be transitioning from our shop to home over the next few months and unfortunately I am old enough to start collecting my RR pension soon. All these things will allow me to focus on the things that mean the most to me. Wheel Horse tractors and our RedSquare family of friends. Thanks again for all your encouragement and support over the years and I look forward to meeting many of you at the shows.

2 pointsYea what you have is a electric start that was optional for a 401.. My 401 has one and i also found a new old stock one in the box..Your best bet is to find another recoil b/c you wont be able to find parts.

I was going to get a single bottom Brinly plow, but I really just wanted to remove the sod, so I didn't have to till the grass and roots it into the soil for our garden. It worked pretty good. I am from Firecracker Films, London, and am trying to track down large, private tractor collections/collectors for a possible National Geographic documentary about various large collections around the world and feel you and your extensive knowledge and/or contacts may help. Collections/Collectors outside of the U.S and UK would be preferential however any insight or help with this would be much appreciated. 1 pointI hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend Mine was a disaster !!! I thought I had a good chance of completing the trike but NO!! First my engine had carburetor issues. After tearing it apart it was obvious that a rebuild or new carburetor was my only hope. Since it is an Onan/Cummins parts are VERY expensive and take time to get. So that left me with plan B . I picked up a 14 HP China clone from a surplus site. The box looked like it fell down Mt Everest but the engine in it looked OK and the price was right. I did not want to use this engine since the design would mean cutting the hood BUT it was my only option. I gassed it up crossed my fingers and gave it a try. It started up no problem. It idles a bit rough but otherwise it runs just fine. So now I had to remove the bad engine and wiring and mount the new engine and rewire it. I fit the hood and cut a notch to clear the carburetor. So at this point I am basically back where I started. My Dad is really looking forward to this tractor and the show in June. He is 85 and every year he goes with me is a gift so come hell or high water I'm going to finish this thing. I'm loading the tractor and taking it home where I have more resources namely my uncle who has the torches, welder and brake to fabricate what I need to finish. We need to fab something to cover the carburetor, make a frame for the canopy and while we are at it fab something better out of plate for the canopy. I will then need to sand and touch up the hood and fender pan, run and hook up the remaining wiring . So here is where we stand at the moment. If I have time I will try to put up the finished pictures. Wildbro

1 pointI've worked on Honda 4 wheelers from 1986 thats 27 years old and i can still get rings for it. Heres the funny part. Yes some parts are Obsolete. Heres the funny part. The only thing that had to be done was replace the rings. No boring the cylinder. When I took the rings out I gapped the old rings .125" the new ring gap was .015. Still ran burned oil. the cylinder was flaw less. After replacing the rings it ran like a top. Crazy

1 pointWell, with all my cryin about can't find any WH down here, decided while on family reunion to go check out a listing, unknown year, unknown model, and out in the old territorial section of central OK. All I knew was had been elec start 6hp. Being a pessimistic optimist I knew what it was cept year and hoped for a dream. After drivin' roud trip of about 200 mis wasn't leaving empty handed. It's missing key, choke cable, belt guard, hood screws, steer wheel clevis pin and spring pin, mower belt guard and snap ring on spindle shaft. The engine was know dead meat and no crank, piston, or rod + various bolts. Wasn't in my dreams, but we kissed anyway, blaphew, horse spit ain't sweet, but with a lot of coaxin and a bit of tear down went to new home pulled in a covered wagon. Isn't that sposed to be the other way 'round. Really wanted a garden tractor instead of mower. Someone said I wasn't using the right kinda hey/hay, finally found a good molasses covered bale of last yrs alfalfa. Oh yes it was missing air in all tires, but guess normal for one that has sat for 20 years unmoved.

1 pointThe key word is "dry". Finally fired my D200 up and gor her running last night and crap does that thing hold a lot of fuel!!! 8 gallons!!! I got to get a bigger gas can - tank was dry as I had cleaned it out and replaced fuel lines and had to fill it up and it took me three trips to the gas station. It was like $30 in gas!

1 pointHave Rustoleum Canvas or Satin White on older Horse hoofs, nice. For the 400's and 500 I use Duplicolor Silver "Wheel Paint." This Duplicolor product (be sure to get "Wheel Paint") holds up very well and dries very quickly. Easy to touch up as well. :smile:

1 pointAnother thing is a lot of people spend beyond their means. I needed another vehicle this spring. I easily could have gone down to the local Chevy dealer and bought a $40,000 truck. I could even make the payments. Thing is I didn't want to. I was cringing at the thought of $15000 for a nice used one. I sold my motorcycle that I didn't ride enough and sold my old truck and only had to come up with $1000 for the vehicle I have now that is a dream to drive. I didn't have to "dip" into my hobby money at all and no payments..

1 pointAnother thing to think about is "time" as well as money. From Central PA, to Conn takes time and gas money for me. I need to head south toward Virginia to trade for a KT-17 series II and there just isn't any time to do it. Your prices are right where they need to be and you know the machines are worth it.

1 pointThe Price of Groceries!!! Last night on my way home from Jay-in-NC's house I stopped at the local food store. Got to the first isle, looked at the price of bread and thought "THIS IS B.S. !!!" I was so angry I bought the wrong 1/2 & 1/2 (stupid fat free) and could not find the other thing I was looking for. This was of course after paying $3.65 per gallon for gas to go visit Jay.............. This Country economically is in bad shape On top of that...it's hard to pick up new horses when you're using Govt cheese. They don't like the taste of it.

1 pointWe all want the "cheapest possible" and we never get out of our tractors $$$ wise what we put in them.That being said,what I have seen a lot of around me is this: I love my hobby I don't do a lot of other things because of it. For instance. Over the past few years I have bought a lot of tractors and resold them along with individual attachments. for the sole purpose of funding my hobby. I try to buy them in the $150 -$250 range and try to sell them under $500 so they would go reasonably fast. I don't try to get a big profit. usually $100 is about average after I figure in gas and upgrades. Sometimes I buy a tractor because of something that was with it like factory weights for example. I keep the weights for myself and resell the tractor for what I paid and I figure the weights as profit. This year I've seen rough non-running tractors that I wouldn't even dream of selling for $500 after I got it going with asking prices in the $6-$700 range.Reality antique shows I think have a lot to do with this. People think junk is worth big bucks. Also this time of year I tend to hold back also because with the show coming up, I'll be looking for a couple of big ticket items and don't want my money tied up in something I'm trying to sell The next thing is room. I have 4 tractors including my Power King loader and they all work. I don't have any more room for one except maybe an RJ. I had one last year but it was rough and after getting it going a guy saw it in my driveway and had to have it! I have no desire to get more tractors except maybe a nicer RJ then the one I had and I have no desire to start stacking them and then they never get used. If I was in a market to buy a tractor to use I would rather buy one of yours then take a chance on a fixer upper.

1 pointI will enter my 56 RJ35 when I bought this tractor she had just been thru a flood for the seond time in six years the poor girl was 10 feet under water this time after a complete and total rebuild
