Time to knock out some dents, paint it up and do some tuning 60 inches? Jake said it would fit. He was right LOL

Does size matter? 1. I guess that depends on who you ask. 2.all relative to what you are going to use your wheel horse for.3.In my opininon it doesnt as Wheel horses have been used from the begining to cut acres of grass since they were built. 4. Seems by todays standards u cant buy a rideing mower or gt with less then 20hp and 50inch deck, go figure, but thats a different topic. 5. took these pics just to demostrate the differences in size from each other. one doesnt realise how much smaller or larger they r from each other, but in reality they are the same, both Wheel Horses in spirit. 6. In conclusion. My opinion is that its not the size of the Wheel Horse, but the magic each one posesses. Saveing the planet one Wheel Horse at a time.

AArrgghhh... I just clicked on the "back a page" button on my mouse and lost everything I had triped Let's try again shall we? I should have the battery box built by now, but got a little distracted by making something else!!! The distraction started by scribbling a few lines on a bit of old computer case. Which soon looked like this after a bit of cutting and shaping. It could fit here.. Or maybe set back a bit? This panel was only made just to see how a panel in that place would look, I don't like the way the holes are set out so I probably won't be using it.. It was only when I opened the hood that I realized I needed to make another part of the puzzle before I could work out exactly where the panel could go anyway.. Sooo, Pete started shaping a bit of hard wood.. While I cut out and oval-ish bit of steel. Yep, the wood is to act as a "former" (is that the right word?) to shape the steel around. Lot's and hammering and arm ache later.. And then there were two.. The third part of the puzzle marked out for cutting.. As I don't want the inside to rust all the surface rust was cleaned off before getting a coat of red oxide. Can you guess what it is yet? Some interesting ways were found to hold the steel in place for welding!! Almost there.. If you had not worked it out by now, it's a fuel tank I just need to seam weld it all and add a filler cap and fuel tap.. It's not a perfect shape but nor am I so were well suited I almost forgot!! Here's part 48 of the build video's.. Enjoy.

That is an incredible sign Terry. If it is still there in June, it will be a collectors item in the back of my truck.

Begin forwarded message: At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, Ford issued a press release stating: If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day. 2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3... Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4.... Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5..... Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6...... The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light. 7....... The airbag system would ask, "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8........ Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9......... Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10.......... You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off. PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call "customer service" in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign accent with high-level terms on how to fix your car yourself!!!!

Mike, The Gt1100 is the same tractor as the C series. Main difference is the Briggs engine.Condition as described will make a good tractor for you. Marvin

Mike, A GT-1100 was the first Wheel Horse I owned. Key word: "first". Still have it today along with about six others. The only "bad thing" I can say about is...it started my addiction! Parts are easy to find because it's basically a "C" series with a "300" series body. The 11Hp Briggs has enough power to swing a 42" deck, a snow blower or turn plow. Don't be scared. If the price is right, go for it but make room for more!

The correct bolt size was 3/8-16. I pulled the flywheel today and found this (see image). I guess the bolt was enough to short it all out. I put it all back together with the old stator and have 14.6v at full throttle. Now, I have a new stator as a spare if the original ever goes out. And yes, I did clean the grime off the engine while the flywheel was off. Instead of running a tap, I was able to clean the threads up with an air compressor and a bore brush for a 9mm. Worked great.

You would need a fast set up, or steering would be very slooooow

Thanks Lars. Ta muchly Mike. Thanking you kindly Sir... Covers over the wheel sprockets will be happening as the front sprockets tend to drag in snow, mud, grass, children and small birds at the mo I have the steel to make them ready and waiting.. Thanks Matt... I thought you liked the look of the seat??? Matt, I get the feeling he is hanging on to that seat just for you! How did you guess? Dunno, not had a flat on it yet.. I'd guess maybe just over an hour depending on how many coffee breaks are had. There is quite a bit of dismantling needed to get a wheel off. Thanks Andy, when the red paint starts going on it's going to be a sweet moment.. I'm sick of looking at the brown paint now. Thanks Richard, I don't have black paint at the mo, but will black duct tape do?

you should have no problem bush hogging them down. you will need something around 25hp or bigger & a 5ft or so rottary cutter. I used to have a DR walk behind bush hog that did very well but 4 ac by hand would be a lot of work & 2in would be around its max. but will go places the tractor wont.

Does your back hurt yet? If so then it is a 60 incher.... lol. It is a 60 inch deck but an earlier one. The newer 60's have rollers instead of skid plates. Both are great and nice pick up!

I love my 520's gas hogs but power to spare, yes that is a 60" deck.

little bit more of an update. got engine ready to start, gas was hard to get up to the carb, even with pressurizing the tank. eventually got it up there. i had spark at the points, but it still wouldnt fire. pulled a plug lead and no spark... just couldnt get any at all at the plugs so time to investigate...... sure enough, testing the coil primary and secondary circuits revealed 4.5 ohms on the primary (spec 4 to 5 ohms) and 0 on the secondary. subsequent testing has given me 1 to 2 k ohms, but no where near spec (9.5k to 11.5k). so ive sourced a 65-79 (5 ohm primary) harley twin fire coil (for points ignition without magneto). that should be here thursday. the kohler coil was just a little out of my price range...thanks for the tip on the coil, tt..... while im waiting for that I've been through some of the electrical, cleaning grounds etc at the dash etc. one area where this thing was really bad was electrical grounds. also did a compression test just to see where its at after replacing the head gaskets and cleaning things up a bit. left side gave 75 on the first push and 100 on the second and wouldnt budge from that. right side (remember this is in a cub) pushed 75 on the first and 105 on the second and that was it. so we have 100 and 105. 5% difference between the two sides. next i did a wet test as the first was dry, squirted a small amount of oil in each cylinder and spun it over a few times so my compression tester wouldnt end up full of oil. left side up to 110 and right up to 115. i think once we have spark there it should be a runner..... i havent done a leak down test on it...... and i picked up a oil filter adapter so i could mount an oil filter on the engine. pn # 52 181 03.

" once you exceed 8mph you start losing cut quality rapidly. With all of these high end zero turns at my disposal I still love my horses" Great to hear. 7.5mph with my 520HC is about as fast as I want to go when I am mowing and I usually do not go that fast. I only go that fast when i lift the deck up and head back to the base for refreshments. I love my 520HC and the stick on the floor hydro for mowing.
