3 pointsI made a dolly for use with my tiller ( another members idea ) and it works perfectly, four lenghts of 4" x 2" screwed together to make a 'frame' then just some old furniture castors to roll it around on. You do need a good surface in your garage, the tiller sits safely in the cradle at just the right height to roll in /out. Being on castors the tiller can be lined up very easily, latch it on, then connect the lift cable, easy peasy . If you need pictures I'll get some, hope this helps.

2 pointsWe got a few things done over the past few days. I did a little detailing on the motor and I made a custom seat cover out of some leather I had on hand. Today I put the custom slot front rims and fat rear tires on that I had on my Burban. I think I'm going to let them stay on Coles tractor, they look pretty good on there. I think black rims on Coles tractor would be a little too much black. I have a nice set of rims already painted (white) that I'll throw on my Burban. I'll order a set of decals, wet sand the paint, buff it out and call it done.

1 pointBegin forwarded message: At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, Ford issued a press release stating: If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day. 2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3... Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4.... Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5..... Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6...... The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light. 7....... The airbag system would ask, "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8........ Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9......... Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10.......... You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off. PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call "customer service" in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign accent with high-level terms on how to fix your car yourself!!!!

1 pointThe 48" deck on the '90 520-8 I've been working on is a spare I had in the barn. The Horses deck when I purchased it "was the pits." I'm reworking that deck (image below) little by little. I tried the deck for a short while, spindles are fine. Cleaned 'n greased, ready to mow. Hardware, wheel axles, blades, and patching some rotted areas. Here's a peek-a-boo at work in progress. Patch is bolted, new SS bolts w/ locking nuts. Then I'll MIG the patch to the original deck. A through cleanup and (I just happen to have a gallon of IH red that'll do for now) a paint job. Of course a new drive belt. I have the belt guards that'll be sanded / sand blasted and painted too. After each use I always rinse decks off, underneath and on top. Decks are dried usin' my backpack blower and then the Stallion is allowed back in the barn. I guess, semi-retired, I have too much time on my hands.

1 pointi feel your pain. we spent 8 years in a small rasied ranch on 1/3 of an acre. the neighbors on both sides were just slobs, stuff everywhere, never mowed the lawn. these houses are 1300 sq ft. one of the charming neighbors had 3 dogs (all lived in a crate in the kitchen, and were only let out onto the deck to do their business) rabbits, chickens, a room full of reptiles and a lovely cockatoo that screamed all day and night. on the other side the people would buy a new puppy, as soon as it got big they would get rid of it and a new puppy would show up. needless to say, trees wouldn't help our sitituation (we did try 6' stockade though). we had to move, took a loss on our hose too. but now we are much happier with a larger peice of property and much nicer neighbors. we have a great dane, so i know all about giant dogs. i pooper scoop daily. i don't want to be "that guy". lol

1 pointHigh gear on the flatlands, low where I have to maneuver around trees, rocks, stumps 'n bumps. With plenty of time on my hands, mow frequently never needing a hay rake. You should never cut more than 1/3 of the grass off when mowing. My first mowing with a WH was early 70's. Rear discharge deck and a Parker or Jackson sweeper. Gorgeous lawn, great Horse! It was thrilling to pull into the drive and seein' the Mrs. driving by tan, relaxed, mowing and sweepin' the lawn. I mowed so frequently, didn't really need the sweeper too much. Then inspiration struck, picked up gang reels so I could keep the Stallion clear for plowin' and cultivatin' the gardens. When the boys turned teenagers, my neighbor told me (in confidence), "When you're not home your boys race the tractors up and down the road." I replied, "So? Have a nice day! " I installed the triangle slow vehicle signs on back of the Horses, didn't slow the boys down at all? Getting to the time I have to deal with the Grandsons! One wants to adopt my '53 Caterpillar D2 to keep the stone drives smooth. Bet me! PS. Grandsons need a trip to TSC Saturday morning for new "Easter" outfits. Don't "Deere" me!

1 pointMowing season is almost here, so I took the 417 out of the garage to run it around some, and show off the new wheel covers I installed over the Winter. A friend bought the front wheel covers at a garage sale for $5, and brought them 180 miles to once again be on a Wheel Horse. The 417 needed a little bling for 2013. Please excuse the 417 not being washed and waxed for the pic. I will post some pics of the herd after it warms up some more, and I can detail them a bit.

1 pointBill, sometime you will have to tell me what in the world is going on with your 1650! Also I want to hear about the other Cub Cadet stuff you've been buying. Van - I'm an idiot!!!!!! If I had a brain, I'd have stopped with the three Wheelhorse tractors I've got now - LOL!!! I've got the 1650, engine is out of it for inspection and an engine cradle mod. I went to the Wheelhorse show last Summer looking for a deal on a tractor for my Boys to use (idea being if they drive it into a fence post, not a great loss compared to my other - otherwise very nice Wheelhorse tractors). I couldn't believe the prices on the tractors at the show - some real junk going for crazy prices IMHO. On the way back, I did a CL search and found a IH Cub Cadet 109 with a 44 inch deck and front blade for a low price and brought it home. I wanted to try a gear drive IHCC, so I recently bought a 126 (I like the style), it needs a motor rebuild/replacement and picked-up a 122 with the engine I need and a rear sleeve hitch set-up (to be used on the 126) - the rest of it will go to parts. Back on topic - by hook or crook, my low hour 520H with hard starting P220 is going to run on the first crank this year if I have to replace the carb with a new one!!!!!!!!! If that don't work, then I might set the thing on fire...

1 point" once you exceed 8mph you start losing cut quality rapidly. With all of these high end zero turns at my disposal I still love my horses" Great to hear. 7.5mph with my 520HC is about as fast as I want to go when I am mowing and I usually do not go that fast. I only go that fast when i lift the deck up and head back to the base for refreshments. I love my 520HC and the stick on the floor hydro for mowing.

1 pointMike, I'm gonna have to keep P'Chop off the forum for awhile. Your Ranger looks exactly like he wants his to look, he's startin to wear me down!
-
1 pointThe deck I'm reworking was a spare. I put another one on the 520-8 which is rebuilt. Works great. The 520-8 sat outdoors for two years when I rescued this poor Stallion a few months ago. Running great today and a chrome WH muffler guard shipped to me today. The Horsey can't wait to wear it! Deck decals I'll order from the Vinyl Guy, Attach-A-Matic decals shipped today. Now, I'll use this one on my 416-8. I also have an unused, 42" SD that, while I'm at it, I'll keep going and rehab the spare although I don't need it. It is in better shape than the 48" I'm restoring now. I bolt patches on trying to use stock locations and more often than not SS hardware and Never-Seez® on threads. I remove the parts after welding for painting. It never ends!

1 pointThank you Terry, Made up a new box for the rear, The old one was so rotted out from being outside filling with water. Made this one just like the one panzer made.

1 pointDany, tu parles français votre langue principale ? Je ne parle pas français. Cependant, Je vais tenter une traduction. Le problème est résolu ??? Terminal A sera supérieure à 15 volts lorsque vous placez un fil du terminal F au châssis.

1 pointDave! That tractor isn't 100% 702 and it is definitely not a 704. What I do see is a mixture of '62 and '63 parts, but without clear, close-up pictures, it's hard to tell exactly which parts from what year. Can you post more pictures of the hoodstand, gas tank, dash, etc.? Is there an ID tag on the engine? If so, could you post all of the numbers please?
-
1 pointThe hoist worked. I used a nylon strap and pulled it up with ease. Thanks guys....unless someone else knows a better way I am satisfied. Actually I think this should have been explained in the manual. A balance point is exactly in the right place. I will try to post pics.
-
1 pointAfter this i thought that i should build also a 3-point hitch for the front, and be ready for the winters snow plowing! Welded A-frames for both back and front hitch in the same measures, to be able to use some tools at both. Did a "weight case", to add some counter weight when using tools, front or back. Here it is with the newbuilt snowplow. The front hitch actually lifts whole 0.5 meters (20 inch). Good then pushing snow out in ditches!

1 pointI like this muffler on my 66 K181. I ran a Gravely type before and this one is about twice as quiet as it was. The muffler came stock on the 80's 12HP & up models and the chrome piece is actually for the larger Onan 2 cyl mufflers.
