This will work for atleast Suburban Models and whatever else has same front spindles and 8'' wheels. Here is what I have come up with to convert your factory rusted out front wheels to a 4on4 Bolt hub 4 lug 8" (trailer) wheel. X2 4x4 Wheel hub (From BMI Karts & Supplies) #260056 $20.95ea X4 Flanged Wheel Bearing 3/4x1 3/8 (Frome BMI Karts & Supplies) #300175 $3.00ea X2 8''x4'' {4 Bolt Rim} (From Surplus Center) ~Lincoln, Ne.~ #1-3860 $12.95ea X4 Shaft Collar 3/4 Bore 1 1/4 O.D. 9/16 Width. (Frome Surplus Center) #1-2766-75 $1.55ea Other than tires that you probably already have, This would cost about $86.00. Might seem like alot but I feel its worth it if you dont think your GT has to be as close to new as a Knats @ $ $. If you have any questions, Reply to thread or send me a message. Thx Any 8''x4" wide 4on4 trailer wheel will work..

On all the other Kohlers I have done that's the way I broke them in. I was just thinking about using synthetic in this one and was not sure about using it to break them in. I have never used synthetic in a engine before. Actually I have not had any problems with the oil I have used all these years. Thought maybe I might try to come into the modern world even though its scary place.

My main work tractor is a pieced together 520H it's mostly a 1993 but the engine came from a Ingersoll but with a few parts swapping it fit, I have 26x12x12 ags in it 200lbs of suit case weights hanging on the back, and I use the crap out of this tractor, it's ugly but I love it, it uses some oil, but I just keep it full, anyways, I was plowing snow last week at my house then took it to my sons house to plow so it was plowing for about 4 hours 6+" of wet heavy snow, when the trans temp light came on, first time ever that happened, so I parked it for 20 min. and finished 45 min. of plowing the light came back on at the end, so I decided to change the trans fluid and filter, and while I was at it change the leaking axles seals, this poor tractor does not get the respect it deserves, I work it like a dog, well when I pulled the rear tires I see the fan is missing, the bolt had broke off in the end of the pump shaft that holds it on, no idea how long that has been missing??? I got lucky I drilled the bolt and used a easy out on it, it came right out, so I grabbed another fan and installed that, pulled the hubs one was junk it had a bad keyway, so I picked out another one, then on to removing the seals, hydro seals can be a pain because they are about 1/2" wide, and these came out very hard, it took about 45 min. to get both out, the new seals are not that wide, only 1/4" but I was please this set was metal, the last ones I picked up were plastic, I also figured it was a good time to put new woodruff keys in the axles, I spent 3 days trying to find some, I got one, but no others to be had local, so for now I put a used one back in, and I ordered 50 new keys so I should have them the next time I need one, and while I had it in the shop I figured it was a good time to check bolts, and was a good thing I found loose bolts all over the thing, nothing falling apart but not real tight, the trans had reg motor oil in it, and was still pretty clean, but had been almost 4 years since I changed it last, I bought Mobil 1 10w30 to put in it like my other tractors, I have a few filters so when I grabbed one, I remembered I bought a bunch of stuff from a guy and got some hydro filters for other brands, so I checked every one fit like it was made for it, Cub, JD and Simplicity, and they are all hydro filters, so my work tractor now has a Simplicity filter on it, before I did anything to the tractor I started it, and like most every time I had to let it set, before it would lift the blade, it was 25 deg outside, and it took almost 5 min. before it would pick the blade up, well now with the Mobil 1 in it, it lifts instantly, it's only 35 out right now, but I know it would still take a few min. before even at that temp, I should have done this a long time ago, like I have my other tractors, but like I said this tractor gets very little respect.

My latches have holes for pins to keep them closed. I ram snow banks all the time. Call me lucky or whatever, but I've never broken anything in 20 years of plowing.

Thanks to a fellow RS member that let me know about these in my area, these now have a new home. C120 needs some TLC, battery and starter switch. 1056 nees a little more work, motor rebuild, battery and just about a complete rework. WH's are not real common in the E. Texas area, but every once in a while they seem to show up. And the price was right. 1056 has been designated by my son and daughter in law to be a baby present for my Grand daughter (due late this month). Pink is their chosen color. Work will begin on both when it warms up. Hopefully the pics make it.

Your tractor is an 8 speed not a hydro so there is no filter to swap. Theres a small drain plug under the tranny right next to the trailer tow bar's rear tongue. If your doing a full tranny fluid swap take out that drain plug and pull the dipstick to let air in and speed up drainage. I use 80-90 weight gear oil in my 8 speed tranny's, I think it takes 2 quarts . Dont use 10w-30, its to thin. Mike..............

So I told my Wheelhorse dealer that I use high test in my horse cause it has less ethanol in it. He stated that high octane fuel is worse for the fuel sustem cause it has more alchohol in it. He recommended 89 octane with a stabilizer. Is the high octane thing true?

One of the members gave me the idea and have started but not finished, and yes I know it's dirty and greasy, still using it to mow. Course this is a C -120 with bolt, requires additional shim, and yes is double cost. Drawback uses sealed bearings and no zerk installed. The same type hub with tapered bearings is available, sealed and unsealed at a lower cost. Don't really like the 1/2-20 studs as don't match 7/16-20 rear studs. I have to credit member dbartlet... and Hydro (Gary) for the inspiration. This is a good post covering similar

Here's the photos of mine... (click to enlarge) I've never really given it a great deal of thought - it's just been there on this deck. Looking at it I can see that it's designed to direct the grass out between the rear wheels. However, cutting a field the deck's always on its highest setting and if the grass is wet the tires still get covered in the stuff. Must help a bit I guess. Andy

I just heard that Alvin Lee passed away early yesterday morning, and my heart is sad. I saw Ten Years After in 1971, and it was one of those mind-awakening events that made me realize how exciting live rock & roll could be. I saw Alvin play later with various bands over the years, every show a real treat. Here's one of my favorite tunes from TYA's early years, this version recorded live in 1970 at the Fillmore East. -------- As I type this, my copy of the 1973 Recorded Live CD is literally stuck inside my Ford Escape's player. Seriously, it won't eject. RIP Alvin, and thanks so very much for all the great music and memories...

I understand what your saying about the bearings. The reason I didnt list a better qaulity bearing because they would most likley be double in price. With this Suburban, It wont be that correct to original unless I replace the H60 with the correct H55. I have located 3 Stock wheels at this point as you know and I think Im gonna buy those too.

I had one but it rotted. I took some flat stock and welded it together like angle iron but at an angle not 90 deg. I forget what it was but then I bolted a rubber flap so it hung down and deflected the grass. No more grass on my hydro.

There is an oil filter base or a remote base that replaces the port cover. Here is an article on it. Just ignore the green blob and focus on the engine. http://www.weekendfreedommachines.com/discus/messages/335/1323.html

Honestly - I have found that turfs with chains & weights are better for the winter and snow, when the ground is firm. During the warm season when the ground is soft, AG tires with weights grip better than the turfs with chains. AG tires really need to dig into the ground to get any traction and snow and wet mud do NOT count either. I've compared both sets of tires on my grassy lawn, gravel driveway, and neighbors paved driveway - during all four seasons so I'm comfortable giving my opinion. I have a 520h with turfs & chains and a 418-8 with AG tires....and during the winter, the 520h never loses traction. But during the summer, the 418-8 is unstoppable. I was always wondering the same thing as you were but now that I have two tractors with both sets of tires, I now know the results.

Sorry I have no information on it as it came with the engine. Only thing I can say is to look at the IPL's for Kohler K17-II. Kinda pricey but this may be the kit you are looking for. http://www.jackssmallengines.com/Products/KOHLER/Oil-Filter/Oil-Filter-Kits/5270204S/763649/s

Wheel Horses multiply after you get two! The garage will be full next year. The only to control it is to just have one.

Nice find on the C160, you can get new correct hood decals from redoyourhorse.com. He is a member here and as a RS member you can get a discount on your order. You can put a post up in the RS classifieds for all the goodies you are looking for or watch ebay. I saw a pair of ag style tires, 6ply Dico brand for $160 for the pair with free shipping. I would have bought them if I had the $$ right now. Depending where you live there are shows/swap meets where you can find and buy parts that are to bulky or costly to ship. As far as maintance, belts and bearings are the most common, sometimes an idler pulley on one of the belt drives needs replaced when the bearings get loud. If the engine ever dies or wears out, WH's are some of the easiest to repower with a different engine including air cooled diesels, Vtwin's or flat twins. About the only thing that lacks on that series IMHO are the headlights if equipted. The later series with the sealed beam lights do much better if you are out after dark. Looks like it has the original muffler, those are nice sounding, quieter than the cheapo "pepper pots or pancake style" that are sold now. If it gets rusty, remove it, sand it down or use a wire wheel and paint it with high temp BBQ paint or exhaust header paint, this will help lengthen its lifespan, they are not cheap to replace. Enjoy your new Horse if you get her! Cheers Mike

until I get the muffler done here's some eye candy needs to be welded but here it is I like a little Bing on my tractor kinda makes it stand out in a crowd Brian

Loosen up some of pipe fittings to retighten OR buy new and have point UP! add a pipe or small tractor muffler for Stack! Add flapper! Or, if NOT, loose the same fittings or buy new and tighten to point down and at slight front angle, but closer to engine and add same or new muffer down lower. Yours looks like someone just added a length at top to move out from hood. Stock is kinda partly under hood, but pointing down (forward) at angle. DON'T try to overtighten these old fittings, you may break he cylinder casting. Hold the part comeing just outside of engine port with one pipe wrench and loosen the coupler and rest with another pipe. Use new parts to best select the angle and keep it tight.

Craig your the man, you must like about the same stuff I do, I love rock some old some new, but hair bands from the 80's some metal not the screaming over the top heavy metal, and not ever song from even the bands I like, to name a few Ozzy, def Leopard, White snake, Poison, Ratt, Aerosmith, Rush, Alice Copper, plus many more. I grew up on old time country, and 50's and 60's rock, but in the 70's as a kid I had a radio and found what I liked, but you know what every now and then I listen to Classical music, like Bach, Beethoven, elevator music, but not for more than a song or two.
