5 pointsI got the call last week about some old WH hubcaps a fella wanted rid of. He said to come and look at them and he knew I would want them. I asked if they were rusty or not and he said they were a little rusted but not too bad. I said if you don't mind, don't clean them up, If I buy them I would rather clean them up myself. He said no problem, he would leave them as is. I went and looked at them today and he was right, I wanted them right now! Best part was the price, $50.00 for them all!! They cleaned up pretty good! Now I have to figure what tractor to put them on! Click on the pics for a bigger pic. KJ

1 pointIn 2003 I was working with a Co-Op who had a Toro dealership. They had been dealers for years and had mostly moved towards the Zero turn market like most dealers. They fell on hard times and decided to sell the inventory. They pushed back everything that Toro still stocked at a 20% restocking fee and they had to auction off whatever was left. I decided to make them an offer on all of the literature and NOS parts that they couldn't return. I got all kinds of old stuff, some I kept, some I got rid of since I really only like certain models. Well, here is some interesting paperwork that I found will digging. I got a nice scanner from work so I decided I would share it with ya'll. Interestingly, both of these papers are from Ed Cole who has been to several Wheel Horse shows on behalf of Toro. Thad

1 pointWell, I fianaly got some photos, they may be a bit off, as my sister screwed up the screen, and that viewfinder isn't all that accurate 1st photo, Here's the 1974 B-80, and the 1968 Electro 12... (The snow on teh B-80 isnt from sitting ouside, that is from my cousin going head on into a snow bank... Spenser. HA! And here's the 1965? Bolens 1050, (Atleast it WAS a Bolens. Now it's got a 1955 Briggs and Stratton 23, and it turns over worse then a 6 volt. (Hey, is there such thing as a 2 volt???) And it sure is slow, I've had better luch starting it by hand-turning the fly-wheel! Excuse the snow. And the 1999 Scotts, (I have many other names for that heap, though...)

1 pointIN 73 they switched to motor oil before that they were type F trans. Some shops did switch the pre 73 over when they worked on them some didn't. If it has motor oil go with 10W30, if trans use the newest Dextron They are one unit and share the same oil

1 pointI'm an old NASA Junkie from the Gemini/Apollo days. I would fake being sick to stay home from school to watch launches. I've been finding NASA stuff on You Tube lately. They have recordings of the Flight Director's loop on missions. Hearing all the technical jargon during a crisis (Gemini 8, Apollo 12,13) is fascinating stuff. Jack King was my hero.

1 pointBut Don't under estimate how much work they can do.... I now have four of them and have my sights on a fifth. Ditto, I have 2 and they sip gas and work hard! Easy on and off for cart towing / yard clean up. I use them quite a lot. (1969 and prior models)

1 pointjust my 2 cents here, but i think unless you are going to be working the tractor and abusing it with plow blades like would have caused the damage to begin with, i think adding the extra plate is somewhat overkill...... just vee out the cracks like kelly mentioned up earlier in the thread and weld them up, or have someone who is proficient at welding do it for you..... ive fixed three of the four ive restored/rebuilt with just welding up the cracks and smoothing them out and they will be fine. i dont have extra plates on them, i dont want the frames to look any different from how they were, the main reason they cracked in the first place is from abuse with plowing, and im not going to abuse them in the same way...... even my c125 that will be used with a blade wont be treated like it was, or my others were, in their 'past' lives by previous owners......... im not saying i won't use plows with them anymore, just not ramming them into built up snow or dirt and causing the frame extra stress. if you make the frame too strong whats going to break next? the trans itself, now that would be a problem fix.........

The tractors are in your hearts! Think we should start an anual Wheel Horse Tractor web show??? Thank You All for making this great thread!!! I'am havin' fun now! HORSEFEATHERS! The Tractor that started it all for me! Rusty ol' 854 swap meet find! Added the "Stuff" and "Kriminal" escaped! After 46 years it plows 'n mowes! Just a good ol' friend! I like it!!! Still my faveorit horse! Not sure if I fit in here?? I'am diffrent and will not conform!!! Big Ugly Dumb!
