I've got a rear weight bracket with small suit case weights - never used it, but thinking about it on one of my 520H tractors. The goal here is to rid the rear wheels of weights and put the chrome hub caps back on. Now - if I were to loose 75 lbs off my fat arse, could I then add that weight back with the rear weight brackets and not cause any damage? JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't resist - won't happen again... Back to lurking, Bill

I'll go back to what I said before. It's an interesting tractor, but in that original post there was no story behind it. If you want to generate interest in your post (here or anywhere for that matter) you've got to put in some more detail. Tell the story behind it, give the information that you know. Where did you pick it up from, how long did it take to restore, have you researched anything on this? While I agree with you that there are groups here who are tight knit, I also think that it's a welcoming group. While you obviously have a nice collection, it doesn't speak for itself, you need to do that. Since you have some rare ones, why not make an informative post on what they are all about? Not only would it get you more recognition, but also educate everyone on some of the lesser known models. Just my 2 cents worth. And you and your brother are more than welcome here, and this is an interesting post.

I just did this mod on my 2012 Ram, and it was plug and play with NO splicing or wiring. The guy I bought it from on evilbay preflashed and programmed it for my truck. Hit the lock button on the OEM key 3x's back she starts, cost me $90.00, way cheaper then the $280 I was going to shell out for a local audio shop to do it. It is all Directed Electronics stuff, so it is a reliable brand. Took me 10 minutes to install. Just figured there are a few dodge guys on here with the newer cars and trucks, might save you some money as remote starts are a popular christmas gift.

I wanted to add some weight to the wheels on my D160 for traction the winter, will be adding chains also, so I took some measurements and cut some pieces of steel and started fabricating. This is what I came up with. Will hold up to 65# on each side and only sticks out as for as the snow blower is wide. Just something I threw together tonight. Seems to work. Hopefully I wont be snagging anything?

I'm trying no-till gardening techniques this year Laying down cardboard, then leaves, then whatever mulch and manure I can get hold of. Maybe only do about 1/4 of the garden as getting the "topping" of leaves/compost/manure is taking longer than i thought (plus, I've yet to replace my truck and getting loads in is iffy. We'll see how she works. Jeff

A bientôt ! Duff

That is really good advice Ken. I too like to meet in a public place to do all my CL business, as the wife doesn't like strangers coming to our house either. I gotta admit she's right, you can never be too safe.

Good advise on the location Ken. Malmac- I am wilh kelly and truckin88 over the other side of the coin thing. IMO if you told me to sell it before you could get to me that would tell me as a seller that you are not a true buyer. I understand why you did that and it was the RIGHT thing to do. I think to get a deal on craigslist you need to be able to be the first in line and be there with cash right away.

WOW! That Big Snapper looks like a flying saucer...some alien technology leftover from the fifties. Do all of these tractors still run guys?

Thanks for the compliments guys. One thing I'd like to add about Duplicolor paints is this, on one of my very nice outboards I managed to put a real NASTY scratch in it. It was about 3/16's wide and 2 inches long. I was none too happy with myself. I decided to try to take the easy way out versus painting the whole thing all over again. I sprayed Duplicolor into a spray cap and continued to fill in the scratch with a fine paint brush until it was a little higher. I then wet sanded it smooth, sprayed a little clear on and then wet sanded it with 1500. Then I buffed it out. There was no trace of this Nasty scratch whatsoever. The best thing is it took me all of an hr. to do it.

First is 2 Hiller Yardhands. All they have is one forward speed and have a 2 cycle power products engines. 2nd is a Standard tractor and they were made the Bantam tractors. 3rd is a 54 Bantam with a rare 1200 model Clinton. Only one other is known with a clinton and we also own it. The serial tag always matchs with the engine tag to tell what engine is original and this one matches. 4th is a Shaw-du-All model R12 with a 2cylinder wisconsin engine. 5th is a Garden All with sickle bar. 6th is 36inch Big Snapper.... It is a pre runner to the snapper mowers thay many people use today

The last one is a Wildcat. It is mistaken as a Bantam tractor and is very similar but was made after the Bantam factory shut down. The first is a 1938 Speedex model B and is the oldest known rider. The third is a 1954 Economy lever steer. Fourth is 46 pond lever steer, 5th. 2 1955 ride away seniors, 6th Speedex Fg lowboy and it has ford model A engine and trans but a ford model T rear diff with speedex drop boxes,

The second one from the top is a Speedex FG High Boy. The one with the bench seat and the David Bradely hood is a Brownie. The Brownie tractors were made by the Allen Hershel company, they were amusement park rides. Same basic design as a bantam tractor, but they only have one speed forward. The Speedex High boy utilizes a 1930 model A Ford motor and transmission. IT was made in Ravenna Ohio.

So here's the thing. There's a lot more of the newer tractors so YES there's going to be more posts on that BUT the forum can't gain more recognition on the older machines if those who own them don't publicize them. For every 1 lever steer, there's got to be thousands of 300/400 series and the same for members right? While I don't want to sound harsh, we have a picture gallery on here with a special section just for Pond's. There are only a handful of pictures in there and none for over a year! I don't understand the argument that RedSquare caters to newer models, when those who own the older ones aren't contributing their information. The manuals section is the same thing. We need members like you to build these areas instead of posting once, getting discouraged and going away. That's not how to share information, and honestly there are very few who own these so it's really up to YOU and those who own them to do something about it. I can not, I don't have one and haven't seen one in person either. I do have some newer ones and those I can and do post about. For me, you're not making me mad, just confused. Share what you have! Knowledge base can't happen without it that's how it works.

Thank you to all the people who understand bout what i am saying. I feel that i just said what others have thought at some point but then there is others that got real made about it but that wasnt really what i was going for. This site helps people and several people visit it but i feel the main focus is of newer tractors, and i know people personally that no longer visit because of it. I do not have a solution to how to change it but just saying what i have saw and heard. Did not mean to make anyone mad but i do like to argue thats just me so thats why i keep responding.

I thought you were into the older horses...What are you doing with a 401??? I will tell you this, if I was at a show that you had some of those at, we would have talked about it. I don't walk by that stuff. Excellent collection. Well, you got every body's IRE up...and you got plenty of responses...so let's see some pictures, and what shows do you go to.??. I just may go to one of those shows...I'll be the guy in the "I Love Red Square" T-shirt. :) :)

Big Job ahead. Going to start with the blade first. If it's anything like last year the snow was wet and didn't stay for very long. Just finished making the 520 extension kit for my plow and added a front centre pin to hold the plow in alignment. I also made up a light kit as the tractor lights were blocked by the chute from the snowblower. If we get into a long cold winter I will have to mount the blower.

Results may vary. If you are going to be using the paint around anything that might drip fuel onto it or someting you will be handling alot Duplicolor is the much better choice. It won't wrinkle anywhere as easily as Rustoleum will if fuel is spilled on it and it doesn't take two months too cure. Any Duplicolor paint that you use, even if its a gloss finish it will need to be clear coated for the shine to come out. I have painted many an outboard motor with Duplicolor paints and I would NEVER consider using Rustoleum on an outboard, it just won't last on an outboard motor. I've been using Rustoleum for close to 35 yrs. now. Its real easy to use and if you have some experience and patience the results can look like a professional painted it, but at the end of the day it is still Rustoleum paint. I painted this award winning 1956 Evinrude with Duplicolor paints 6 yrs. ago. It has seen alot of use and she spends many hrs. out in the sun. She still looks freshly painted. Granted, I haven't yet painted a tractor with Duplicolor paints, not even sure I would. I did paint a tractor with some leftover cans of Cherry Red Krylon paint I had left over from a project. The shine looked just OK at first, once I added some clear coat to the situation it popped much better. Here are some pics, results may vary.

The stock belt is 5/8 X 84...I have a C-160 hydro with the same belt size and the hydro would continue to run disengaged. I used a 1/2 X 84 and that stopped it. Maybe it is because it is not a Toro belt but I don't have the funds to test sizes with OEM equipment. Another thought is with the 1/2 inch width belt the idler pulley will tuck in closer to the rear pulley and keep the belt on....
