A bunch of the herd got out this weekend for a tractor show in Mt. Gilead Ohio. It is a small show but a good one. Had a few good garden tractor collections. My buddy Packrat and I had 14 Wheel Horse's all lined up for their viewing pleasure! How are they looking fella's??? Click on the pics and they will get bigger. KJ

Very nice collection. This Horse disease is catching. Many years since owning a Wheel Horse. Last month the disease struck back I now have a '73 12 hp, automatic in the barn. And, last week added a Raider 12. Not to mention a snow blower, chains, spare engine, two sets of mounted tires, and a spare automatic transmission, "I need this 'stuff'." Wife wants to go out, "I'm very busy."

Well, I got more info today after I went and looked at it again. It is a 1994 (73501-4900XXX). After seeing it out in the daylight, I found quite a few little things that would decrease the value in my opinion. Being 18 years old, 1455 hours means that it was used quite frequently. Over 80 hours per year. Around here, you have to have a lot of grass to put in 80 hours per season mowing. If not grass, then snow blowing. This tractor was not originally sold by this dealer. He does not have, nor is he aware of any of the service history. He does know that it is a one owner, and says the owner did have it serviced regularly. Don't know if it means anything, but the wiring harness looks too clean for an 18 years old. There is some rust under the hood and around the rear of dash, indicating to me that it was used in wet conditions, or left outside for a while. One headlight bezel is missing. The deck is a 1994 (78360), but has been welded and modified at the discharge. The engine is clean, but appears to have been power washed or steamed, so it's hard to tell if there has been any oil leakage. So, after careful consideration, I think that I am going to walk away from this deal at this price.

One idea... Try putting the camera either on a tripod or a good solid surface and rotate the viewing screen toward you. Then, you could bring your work to the camera rather than the camera to your work. That will keep both hands free and you can see the viewfinder image easily.

It was HOT, but it was a very nice show and great to see the people again. A big thanks to Kelly and all those who helped with the show. Here are the pictures I took. JoeBob and Brian (Buckrancher) enjoying a little shade. Scott (smoreau) and his very nice 400 that he let me ride around. ] TerryM in the background here. Gosh, I love this table...thanks Scott for bringing it. Nice line up of horses This is Eric...Lonny's son. Thanks Jake. MJ and Duke show their horses. Thanks you guys for dinner and the goodies...excellent Scott and Brrly1 Notice John lost that beard he used to have, but he is growing it back. Checking out Brrly's new sign Check out this group...front row Brian and Scott...back row Abraham, Martin and John This shot shows how Scott parked his table so he could lean against this tree. EricRedHorse's son...he is into video games Always love those orange tractors Seated at the table...EricRedHorse and Dave (Funengineer) Great to talk with you guys. The blind tractor race. The driver is blindfolded and the guy behind him is telling him how to navigate the maze. They go forward like this and then switch places and have to back back out. Really cool. JakeKuhn on his horse doing the chain race. You had about 10 feet of chain hooked to the back of the tractor and had to go back and forth getting all the chain on the metal tray. The suitcase race...the orange hat and black skirt is Kelly Lonny (Otrelwood) and Lane Ranger...great seeing you guys again. Scott's daughter Gabby on her Ranger. she is going to break hearts JoeBob and Denny (DClarke) finding some shad. Great to see you again Denny...actually Joe was showing Denny how to do a pole dance. Hope you enjoyed the pictures...it was a great week end. :) :)

Great vids Craig!Lots of credit goes to you for working like a dog on that tractor in this heat Craig. The humidity kills me! I went to lift something outside yesterday and I instantly pulled my back out! You changed the identity of that 702 real quick, it looks awesome and I wouldn't repaint it.

C/L find today, 2nd owner had it for the last 25 years thinking it was an 854, but based on the K-161 and one piece fuel tank...I'm thinking it's actually a 701...hard to tell, wrong seat, steering wheel, incorrect belt guard...anyway to confirm with numbers, or photos, either way? My guess is based on the motor, but I supposed that could've been swapped too at some point. Anyway, it's a running tractor that came with a couple attachments, a working rotary mower deck that's pretty quiet...but riddled with cancer. A front reel mower and mount that he's never used. A snow blade and rear axle mount. Extra set of rims and turfs. Also a brand new Carlisle turfs on the tractor mounted on what I think are virtually new Cub rims. Smoked like a chimney on initial start up, but he said it's been sitting unused for the last two years. Started it up here after I got home tonight, smoked for a minute and cleared right up...even engaged the deck and mowed the back yard real quick before putting it away...looks like a brute, but actually the motor seems pretty strong, and the tranny shifts as it should. I probably paid too much for it but considering the buck fifty I gave for the package...over all...I'm pretty stoked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1rEs0Y05pE&feature=youtu.be

In your first post you said 'I don't really need anything of this magnitude', so I say why take the chance? Like it or not onan's are risky used, (just read RS) if your one of the unlucky ones $1200 -$1500 could soon turn into a great deal more, and for what? They sound great and thats about it, most 12hp+ kohler powered 's will do just as good a job and save fuel to boot. :twocents-twocents:

I think you will find it was added latter, happened alot, on the pull start tractors.

I mow a half acre with either of my 2 32" gear drive RDs, either the 66 Lawn Ranger, or my 10 horse 605 if the clover gets too thick. They both do a fine job IMHO, but I have discovered with these old decks, that the use of Ag tires as opposed to Turf tires seems to pretty much eliminate the windrow and packing effect some have noted.
