C/L find today, 2nd owner had it for the last 25 years thinking it was an 854, but based on the K-161 and one piece fuel tank...I'm thinking it's actually a 701...hard to tell, wrong seat, steering wheel, incorrect belt guard...anyway to confirm with numbers, or photos, either way? My guess is based on the motor, but I supposed that could've been swapped too at some point. Anyway, it's a running tractor that came with a couple attachments, a working rotary mower deck that's pretty quiet...but riddled with cancer. A front reel mower and mount that he's never used. A snow blade and rear axle mount. Extra set of rims and turfs. Also a brand new Carlisle turfs on the tractor mounted on what I think are virtually new Cub rims. Smoked like a chimney on initial start up, but he said it's been sitting unused for the last two years. Started it up here after I got home tonight, smoked for a minute and cleared right up...even engaged the deck and mowed the back yard real quick before putting it away...looks like a brute, but actually the motor seems pretty strong, and the tranny shifts as it should. I probably paid too much for it but considering the buck fifty I gave for the package...over all...I'm pretty stoked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1rEs0Y05pE&feature=youtu.be

This is my 68 commando 6. I cannot take credit for the restoration work as my buddy bought it at an auction at the Williams grove historical steam engine association show. When he got it there wasn't a bit of red on it it was all rusted he lost interest in it so I bought it from him for 400 dollars and have been making improvements ever since. It has a crankshaft from a hh 60 tiller engine so it's a pull start, I hope to find a crank and flywheel from another tractor so I make it electric start again. The light lens was also ruined I have the housing so all I need is the lens, seat needs re upholstered Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I can get my sis to take it back with her you can have it. It's not doing me any good sitting there. If I knew it was there before I went to the scrap yard it would have went. How far are you from the Hudson bridge? Can see if from her place....

That was one good deal matt. I have one of those,we now have a bigger one with a foot pedal, but that one always did a good job. You will probably want to run black beauty or some rough aluminum oxide in your cabinet. We have had trouble with the guns and tips but it was not hard to get better ones,it should make a very nice cabinet for you. Jake

I tried one once and didn't like it. I think you really need an abrasive like black magic to work well. Sand is affected by moisture and clogs easily. I used to have a cabinet by Tip Tools. Pressure gun, vacuum, carbide nozzle ect. really worked well. You need a big compressor to blast effectively and have the proper filters and air line construction to handle moisture. I ran 3/4 galvanized pipe and on my air take offs i went up with the pipe first and then down. Moisture has a tendency to lay in the bottom of the pipe and will travel to the pipe end for draining. Get their catalog if you want to get into blasting. Lots of top notch items and tips on restoration. I have one of their HVLP turbine sprayers that is fantastic. I can paint a tractor one day and stain the fence the next! http://www.tptools.com/

Looks like a great cabinet. I was half tempted to get one. I got a barrel blaster instead. I like it, but it's kinda small for my needs. At the moment, I am taping lots of plastic drop cloth up in a small area of my barn and I got a suction feed blast gun. I am going to drag my deck shell in there and sand blast it. I have a 5 gal bucket of sand and black diamond mix. I figure after it gets empty, I will scoop it up off of the floor, strain it, and use it over until I am finished with the job. I used gorilla tape to secure the plastic to the cement floor. Seems to hold well enough. Once I get blasting will be the real test. P.S. you might want to invest in some disposable see through covers for the glass port. They get scratched up easy, and over time it makes it hard to see through.

I believe this one is the same as the later years besides the lack of indentation where the model number goes in the 1962 and newer models. I will take a look at mine and let you know for sure.
