Old topic but this was such a perfect fit, I wanted to bring it back up. My new to me 520-H had the worn out seat strut and while other posts had mentioned having your kids (AKA yard apes) hold the seat up for you...I trolled onto the handy dandy RS search engine and lo and behold...pictures, model numbers and where to buy. didnt have to drill anything or modify in anyway. Thanks to all of RS members, Mods/Admin for all the present and past valuable information. (How did I do this stuff before RS ?!?) :text-thankyouyellow:

I found this 318 the other day $500, it was a great buy. One owner 800 hrs 50" deck, collection system, 6-suitcase weights, front and rear brackets, 49 snowblower, chains. as they all have-Power steering(love that). I have had several of these and a bunch of other JD tractors, but this one is really a clean, well kept tractor.

Very nice 314-8. I've got one like it and the kohler cast iron engine is GREAT. This is my favorite Wheelhorse model. One the other tractor, you need to run it a bit and get the hour meter off 666 .... Bill

Looks like you have a very nice base tractor to start a resto. Keep in mind that the exhaust heat sheild and tool box/fenders were an option for a RJ58, so if you are looking to resto as original those parts are not required. If you are looking to give her all the options then start the search, LOL. Tool box/ fenders will run in the 50-70 dollar range and the heat shields run about 50. Your best bet is to hit all of the tractor sites with wanted ads, tractor shows and evil-bay.

Just a note: Going back to the flywheel puller which a friend helped you out with. I frequent Autozone. They have a loaner program for many of these specialty parts. Basically, they have a collection of tools available for loan. They charge you retail for the item, and when you return the part, they refund 100% of your payment/deposit. This has gotten me out of trouble a number of times. Thanks to Autozone. And thanks to you all for the vast amount of info you make available.

I don't like when people claim "Worlds" anything.....He needs to back up his claim, there are record books for that! "Slicks" mower appears to have alot of power! However...it is one saweet mowchine! Kudos! I happen to know the record holder Bobby Cleveland from Georgia. I give him "2 Feathers Up"
