hi every one i am the current owner of the MAX NUNN book that is bieng raffeled off at scotts meet and greet this fall, i am very dissapointed in how close we all are in selling eachother parts and making money for ourselves, only a very small people so far deserve a thank you( the 45 of you that bought tickets know who you are and thank you for your support!!!!) MAX went thru a terrible thing that NO child should ever go thru, i am very glad to have met him and also happy to have paid for the book out of my own pocket and also VERY proud to own his tractor, also a great amount of thanks goes to KARL LYON and SCOTT MEHLBERG for hauling it to the big show in PA this year to show the tractor of, if you find this offensive and dont think your child could ever get sick think again check the stats on cancer in children, it is over whelming, not saying breast cancer, colan cancer and all the other cancers are not, think of you donation as a pack of cigarettes or 2 cans of chew, 2.5 gallons of gas if you can even get that much. I remember when i put the post on red square about MAXs tractor for sale on here how many people had ideas on what should be done with this tractor to raise money for the cause, well i did my part i bought the tractor, a book and asked MICHAEL M to sign it to the great MAX NUNN and there will never be another book like this unless it will be both first and second edition and if there is a third edition ever produced, so you will be getting a one of a kind priceless book and you cant spend 10.00 for a chance at it, I JUST CANT BELIEVE ONLY 45 TICKETS SOLD, well members sleep good tonight i know i will knowing i did my part tomwh1971 tom cornford

Two acres of lawn around my place are mowed weekly or more often. This chore, over the years, has transitioned to a hobby where the restoration, optimization and the use of two classic “C†Wheel Horse units have become pleasure. Work isn't work if you have pride in it, especially if one can enjoy the use of the right tools. Anyway, grass cutting, acre upon acre, round and round, over a couple hours, is transfixing, “a Zen experience that allows one to see into one's own true nature, and thus attain Buddhahood or enlightenment.†Well I guess.

Well I've been doing some work on the 1972 Commando and it's looking much better now. Repainted it and put some custom decals on it. Put in a headlight tub with a new lens, new tail light and switch, so they all work now. Thought you might enjoy the new pictures. I have renamed it Cowboy's High Horse! :happy-wavemulticolor:

Ya I wish they did a better job on the paint, i have JDs, Simplicitys and others from the 60's with nice orig. paint, and they have sat outside for years. The C-165 looks like it could be a nice worker as is, did you figure out what trans it has??

The swept axle started in 1990. The gear reduction steering in 1991. I had a 90 and later sold it. I switched out a front axle and reduction steering, it's really nice to steer. :)

Since water is heavier than oil, it goes to the bottom until the tractor is driven. That mixes is up and that is a good time to check the dipstick. Otherwise, if it has been sitting, the water separates, goes to the bottom, and the nice brown oil rises to the top where the dipstick lives.

Wait, What? I was going to plow and it started raining. You lost me somewhere, I'm sorry. I was daydreaming. I'm sorry. What was that about cutting grass? . When you are able to obtain this pebble from my hand. You too grasschopper, WILL become most enlightened....

Sorry to hear that. If the PO put the housing on upside down it sort of indicates he didn't know what he was doing (in which case you wonder what else he missasembled) or he found major problems too expensive to fix and he just quickly closed it up. Time to drag out the manual. it actually has fairly detailed diagnostics. I have never figured out how to definitively ascertain which is at fault (pump or motor) once you eliminate the charge pump as the problem. Some thoughts and I hope Jeff will jump in here. Charge pump testing requires a hydro pressure gage...(or if you have a three point hitch and it will pick you or a heavy load up fairly quickly... or a heavy mower deck on the midmount) we can make an assumption (remembering what assume means that the charge pump is good enough. Depending on the nature of you malfunction the diagnostics will have you look at several things acceleration valves check valves etc. However in the ones I have looked at the problem is normally cause by dirt in the system that wore or damaged the slippers and valve plates. If that is the problem then I can virtually guarantee you will have to open up both pump and motor. the dirt circulates through the whole system and will wear out both ends. Hopefully your problem will be simple like a bad tow valve. What are your symptoms???

I agree with Paul... When I hear the PO was in something, especially hydro untis, it scares the heck outta me. My 18 auto was a mess when I bought it. I cleaned it up and realized it was covered in blue silicone on the inside and outside and I was told the PO wasnt in it. Yet, there were no factory gaskets, just blue goo all over everything and a huge hole in the bottom of the differential that was filled with JB weld. I'm wondering what exactly your machine is doing that you needed to flip the motor? All the info you can give us will help us help you. Paul is one of the best hydro guys on here. He taught me, and we have torn a few motors and pumps apart together now. I think we might be able to point you in the right direction.

well heres another update. got the hood all sorted out with a 'blackhood'decal from terry (vinylguy). i made up a template and got terry to cut me out a decal to fit on the hood to cover the problem areas. we kicked around a carbon fiber pattern and matt black. i decided the matt black was more in tune for this tractor. also got the rest of the awesome decals applied. heres some pics of my hood adventure....... then terry gave me a sample of the template in white vinyl to test fit. was good to have a test run for installing the final piece. and this afternoon i installed the matt black decal...... then it was onto applying the rest of the tractors decals. terry has the 1057 decals in both red/white and red/beige. i decided the red/beige decals suited the red/beige of the tractor and wheels more. heres a few of the 1057 out in the sun, not much more than the seat and steering wheel to finish now!!! .......

T-1277 / 173483 : Those old hydros are nice - quirky & jerky at times, but that just adds to their personality. Big blocks, long skinny hoods, no "running boards", and the narrow rear fenders = Perry's got a nice 1277..... I believe there are some pics in the gallery.
