2 pointsCraig. Its not locked down because its was not started to be a political opinion thread, shoving one members views down other members throat and such. Dont for one second think that the Admin/Mod team has not seen this thread, and that it is being watched carefully. The original poster was just talking about an experience he had with his son and not attempting to "sway" you or any other member here. Maybe you think we should lock down the thread about gas prices that you personally have posted in numerous times? Theres something in the rules about that. This forum is full of adults and we try to treat the members like adults and sometimes we (the Admins and Mods) will give a little leeway to a thread if it stays civil, such as this one and the gas price thread. Relax, enjoy the forum, and leave the policing to the Admins and Moderators. Mike...............

1 pointThank You All For Your Continued Support. After 4 Years And Countless Hours Of Design Time I Have Recreated Many Of The Most Common Vintage Wheel Horse Decals Needed To Restore These Great American Tractors. If You Do Not Find Your Decals On My Website Please Contact Me Or Leave A Post With Your Request. I Will try To Get Them Developed When Time Allows. I Am Now Using A High Quality Digital Print Vinyl With Air Escape Technology That Is Much More User Friendly. It Is A Bit More Expensive But Better Quality And Easier To Install With Less Chance For Bubbles Or Wrinkles. You Can Still Use The Windex Wet Application Technique That Is Popular With Many Of Our Members. All Decals Are Made Up As Orders Come In To Assure You Have Brand New Fresh Decals With A Long Shelf Life. If You Find An OEM Decal In Most Cases They Have Been On A Shelf For Many Years And The Adhesive Has Most Likely Eaten Into The Liner Making It Difficult If Not Impossible To Use. We Are Making Every Effort To Improve Customer Service And Delivery Time Though Most Of You Know I Run A Full Time Graphics Shop And It Has To Come First. With That Said I Can Tell You That Most Orders Usually Arrive At Your Address In About 7 To 10 Days. Some Times It Can Take Longer. Thanks Again

1 pointI picked this RJ up a few months ago from Stevebo for my 9 yr. old son Cole. Cole used to have a real nice one that I restored for him a few yrs. ago. Well, he saw a go cart that he just had to have. I told him we had no room for one. (A Ford was taking up all of my storage space!) He insisted that we get rid of his RJ and that he didn't really care about it anyways. Well the RJ got sold and he could care less, at first. Then he began to miss it, like I knew he would. Things were a little diferent this time around, this time he wanted to help refresh this RJ and he wanted to help pay for it as well. Its not perfect, I didn't want to go over anything he helped do. Tonight we were looking at decals for it, he really wants the earlier decals that say Rideaway JR over the original type for this tractor. I mentioned they weren't correct for this yr. RJ but he doesn't care, neither do I, its his! Tonight Cole painted the rims black, just like they were on his old one. I will post some pics of the black rims on it tomm. All we need to do now is find a muffler pipe heat shield and some diamond plate footrests and take her for a ride!

1 pointCorrect me if I am wrong, but my reading of the wiring diagram is that if I jump the battery to the switch pole on the solenoid, I have bypassed all the safety switches that can disable the starter (neutral, oil, and the seat switch PTO interlock. ) So energizing that is purely testing the function of the starter relay. (it did not work). I also jumped it directly to the starter (using the jumper cables from my car, so I did not create too much heat) and that moved the starter no problem.. so unless i am misreading something, the issue is the solenoid.... there may be issues with the safety interlocks, but since it did start last weekend, (albeit intermittently) I am assuming that they are OK (there is some suspicious wiring at the board that leads me to believe at least one has been bypassed, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. )

1 pointThanks Matt, yeah she is a bit of a mixed part Wh Your welcome Brad Funny you should say that.... Uploaded to MooTube this very morning.. I can't work out how to do the embedded link thingy so the little YouTube window show's, so you will have to click on the link below chaps http://www.youtube.c...u/0/em0SGbhWWZQ I've been having a "lathe" day today, partly because I need to make some drive belt tensioners and partly because it's been a cold day, I'm out of logs, and the lathe lamp kicks out a fair bit of heat Anyway starting with a bit of the steel rod that made a guest appearance at the end of my last post.. In the lathe it went for a bit of shaping and a tad of drilling.. One done. The idea is these two bearings will fit on the shaft.. And when slid inside the outrigger (despite this hurriedly taken photo) they will press down on the drive belt.. Well once I've cut some slot's in the outriggers so the tensioner thingys can be bolted in place.. Have done one of these tensioner thingys I though I might as well start on another.. Ta-daa, that's the front tensioners sorted

1 pointNot sure if you guys have seen this yet...I found this on the shelf at my favorite NAPA. For $19.95 you can put this on your truck and improve your mileage by a considerable amount. You can wait for gas prices to go down and go back to any show you want, or you could go back to the sixties and buy .32 cent/gallon gas. These things will be flying of the shelves once the word gets out.

1 pointWell, the devil is in the details. I suppose you can file this one under "Helpful Things to Remember", or possibly under "Stupid Things People Do". Today I went out to my friends house to get the coil, etc. from the donor C-85, and while I was there I took some photos of the C-81 we picked up the same day we got the donor. Once armed with my backup parts and photos, I headed back to the B-80. As I was loosening the coil on my tractor and disconnecting things, I paused and thought "Hmmmmm....I wonder?" So I got out my trusty Droid and compared my setup with the photos I had taken. It's a funny thing....did you know that if you attach the points to the positive side of the coil and the ignition to the negative side, you'll get spark and intermittent ignition, but a tractor that won't run? I didn't either, but I do now! That's right...this whole ordeal was due to a couple of crossed wires, or what I like to call "operator error"! I have to tell you that although I'm really psyched that it's running now, in hindsight I feel pretty thick-headed! I looked at that coil a dozen times, but in my head it looked right and I missed it every time. (In my defense, so did everyone else who looked at it too!) Sooooo.....that mystery is officially solved. Now all I have to do is get the governor adjusted correctly (I'm reading a book on voodoo and black magic to help with this) and all will be right with the world once again. Many thanks again to everyone for all the help and suggestions! Now I'm off to pick up some chicken bones and goat's blood so I can get busy on that governor...

1 pointpoor old thing has been hiding under a sheet in the corner of the garage, i guess this spring will be a good time for some paint as long as the engine is out....i'd like to paint the rims, but the tires are loaded, making it more challenging. seat cover is shot, steering wheel is broken inside the rubber... where to stop... oh well, first time posting pics, hope it works

1 pointCraig, a very cool quote I must admit! I'm a reletively savy writer myself, but never heard that expression before. You made me do a Merriam-Webster search, and as a result, I've learned something new. Thanks! Yea... he does that to me to. You know....these Rambler guys eh? ...but on to the tractor, looking at that is like stepping back in time. It's beautiful. What a find! I'm not a collector but I can sure appreciate the condition it's in and the belt guard too!

1 pointThats not a milk crate, can't you see that it's a gas tank bracket. :ychain:

1 pointwell the reason for the solenoid is twofold. first it relieves starting current passing through the ignition switch while the starter is energized. second, it keeps the heavy gauge wiring out from the dash area. i can just run from the battery to the switch and back to the s terminal of the solenoid using 12 gauge wiring as it only sends a 'signal' to the solenoid when starting power is needed. much easier to tidy 12 and 14 gauge wiring, than fight the 6 gauge common on these models without a solenoid. twas a good idea from a kiwi friend of mine....... also the size of the battery looks huge in there, but im sure its close to how they were, probably just taller. specs..... Battery CA @ 32 Degrees F : 560 Battery CCA @ 0 Degrees F : 450 Battery Reserve Capacity : 55 i think it was 8.5" l x 6.25"w x 7" h...

1 pointWell, I only had a few minutes this afternoon to hose it off quick. I'm really going to spend some time on it this week, but here it is so far. Definitely want to find some new front rims.
