1 pointGot board this weekend after taking 3 weeks off from taking care of my sick wife. She's a little better now so I snuck out for a quick wrench session! I wanted to see if I could clean up the old rusty frame, I think I see good red paint under the rust! So I went to work on it to bring back some of the original red paint from 1955! This is the early production model with the gas tank on a steel frame. This is probably the 2nd batch of RJ's the Pond's built that year, since it doesn't have the aluminum steering wheel. Dang, look at all the nice old paint under that rust!! Gotta love it! It looks like the seat and steering wheel are painted black. I have the original front tires and rims and I'll have to clean them up, they are covered in rust too, have to take a peek at whats under there next! Guess I'll leave it in original condition now, just spray it with oil!! I'll clean up the rest later to see what paint is left. How's it look fella's? Hammerhead

1 pointI like the sirometers too. I have also used mine on my 3-cylinder EFI cushman. Even if it had a traditional ignition I have yet to see an electronic tach that will work with a 3 cylinder!

1 pointKeep in mind the 516-H and 518-H have the weaker tranny pumps, as well as MOST "-A" tractors. Not an issue unless you plan to plow or grade or pull heavy loads.
-
1 pointI have used my home-built mid-mount version for the final scraping of packed snow, but never anything deep: I am also fortunate enough not to have to deal with full footrests, so downpressure isn't a problem: As far as the push vs. pull debate..... real graders pull the blade. The rear axle-mounted 50" versions are really nothing more than an extra-short dozer blade.

1 pointMy Son loves to help me BBQ This year he will be old enough to help shredding. When we do large pork orders its all hands on deck at my house. Every one has a job. It's just keeping the kids from snitching thats the hard part.

1 pointHere is a double barrel heater kit. There cheap but you provide your own Barrels. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IOBIN6/ref=asc_df_B000IOBIN61896922?smid=A1DVTBR2NQ2Q9F&tag=nextagusmp0426115-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B000IOBIN6 Or you could build one like mine. It will do up to 150lb. of pulled pork at a time I've only got about $350 into this one and it paid for itself (I cater on the side) the first time I cooked with it

1 pointA big assed pork butt roast.....8-9 lb will take about that long to fall off the bone good at 200-225 degrees. My favorite.....salt/sugar brined deer roasts (soaked for 4 days) take about 4 hours to get to 140 degrees. Put a bit of hickory in the charcoal basket and cook it slow. Slice it thin and watch it disappear.....

1 pointI have Vredesteins they are about $50-60.00 They work well in snow. I had them on standard 8" rims which fit a 314. I now have them on a 4 stud rim. They are 16X6.50X8. They may be too wide though for what you want. FYI anyway.

1 pointI got the engine cleaned up and painted and the gearbox for the sickle bar rebuilt and painted. Next I need to replace this tranny with the six speed and repaint a few engine pieces I messed up. There's still a long way to go but I think I have most of the parts on hand to finish this.

1 pointThat factory is state of the art! I have seen a lot of videos of this factory over the last few years and they have a very nice setup for the more higher end buyers. I do think that they do have some of the best ideas for safety and ingenuity of making a great product! I am not a VW fan and would never buy one, but they have done some very neat things in the automotive industry that will only make things better for all manufactures so I do applaud them in there thoughts and designs. I my self will only buy American where the money stays here in America and not a company that has come to America to build one and the money does not stay here. Just my personal preference and that is just me in the way I like to support America. But that factory is awesome and would like to see it in person some day! They did some really nice things and made it so any one can help put there car together , that is neet!

1 pointI pull a 42" 8hp trail mower behind my C-175 for a total of about 80" of mowing swath using a combined 25 horsepower. I can mow my mostly obstacle-free 2 1/2 acres in a little under 3 hours. The trail mower uses less than a gallon of gas and saves me 1-2 hours.

1 pointJust like at tractor shows Stephen, talk, talk, talk... And it's always great to hear or read what you have to say!!!
-
1 pointMy opinion on the cabbed tractor it that you shouldn't haul it. Everything will be fine for a while, then you'll hit some critical speed where the sucker instantaneously blows apart. On the insurance... You must check with your insurer because it may be completely different than anyone else's policy. Sometimes work related activities aren't covered by private insurance and vice versa. My standard auto policy protects me for liability only when the trailer and cargo is attached to my vehicle. I have insurance on the trailer itself for damage and loss. It's a separate policy. The cargo is covered by special provisions on my policy and has an upper bound on value limits. If you're borrowing a trailer you probably have limited liability coverage for the trailer itself and its cargo should it present damage to someone else. I'd imagine you'd be out of pocket completely if you lose/damage the cargo or trailer. Your father's agent will need to help you on what's covered on HIS trailer. YOUR stuff might be excepted unless he's pulling the trailer. Steve
