As mentioned in another thread, Europe is Gaining a Suburban! LOL This little 551 is headed to Norway! Lars AKA Knusern and I have been talking for some time in the chat room. (And some of you thought it was useless! HAHA) I recently bought a "lot " of tractors on EBAY and this little Jeewl was in the mix. Lars has been wanting another tractor, but they are very expensive in Norway. So I told him he could have this Suburban if he could get it there. It is missing some pieces , but shows some promise. I have looked at a few Suburbans, the fenders are in great shape, rear tires seem ok Front end needs some attention. Not sure whats going on with that hood stand? Basically the plan is this...We are going to gather all the parts here in the states, Then I am going to take it apart, to fit into a shipping crate. Then off to Norway for Knus to restore it.

did a little more on the hood today. i dont like how the area where the grill and hood meet was fabricated with limited strength and over time the hoods all seem to crack at the corners. so i thought i would make a piece to brace the area. i cut a 3 inch strip of similar gauge steel and bent it up to conform to the inside shape of this area... it was a bit of a challenge with the bends to get it to lay flat and i think i got it close enough to tack weld in there. i need to drill a 1 inch hole in the middle of it to allow the hood ornament nut to snug up tight against the hood before i do though and couldnt find one in my holesaws, so i need to wait until monday at work to do that. then it will get welded in there and hopefully it will stiffen up the area enough. thats all for now. im working on the seat pan at the same time as this. hopefully they will both be ready for some final painting real soon.... :)

Well I finished up the wiring and all works like factory, looks good too, but you can tell the engine side of the harness came with the engine the wiring is a MUCH better grade, the tractor side was not, but I'm happy started with a bump of the key even after having the engine on the floor for a day.

I would start with a new or known to be good spark plug. They do go bad and thats the easiest thing to check first. I use an inline spark checker, dont like the plug on the block method myself. The inline checker is cheap to buy and real handy to have. Mike..........

ive got one of these tachs and when i first used it it was ok. it doesnt always read the tape accurate even when you put the tape on a really non reflective surface. its a cheap chinese one as well, i guess i shouldnt expect too much, not even sure what i paid for it now but it was really cheap. the display jumps around quite a lot trying to determine a reading and after a while i just get frustrated with it and give up. i dont like the hassle of the tape either...... i left a really nice one back home with my brother when i left oz, it was a 12v and clamp on the spark wire deal and you would just set a dial to single, 2,4,6 or 8 cyl. it was fairly old, something my dad had for years before i was around. should have been one thing i brought over with me. guess i will end up getting something similar if i can find it. or get my brother to ship it to me......

When I worked at a golf course we had a Worthington and a Jake to pull gang mowers. They both would do over 40. Steering was shot on both. Talk about being busy behind the wheel! :auto-ambulance:

Shoot.....I haven't even put a blade or blower on yet this winter. I'm damn sure not going to put the cab on for 50 deg weather! And Jason, you need to come back by and spend some more. The Harley project is getting expensive!

I hope "rusty in baskets" qualifys for this thread. A while back I got this on a pallet along with the rest of its parts in boxes After some serious E-tanking, sanding, blasting, bending, fabricating, priming, painting, assembling, cussing, I had this Thanks for looking-Al
