    As a Former GM, Ford ,and Chrysler mechanic I feel they have all gone way over board with technology and electronics. They are great when they work. But the more you have the more that can go wrong. I started out in the 80's when all that was built was crap, K cars, Citations, Escorts ect. I've seen major improvements and then they started trying to get into a Horsepower war again and started trying to get cute. Case in point. 88 Chev truck 5.7 throttle body injection. Depenable, good runner easy to work on. Same Ford or Dodge, PITA to work on. What did GM do? Tried to get all fancy with intake runners hoses ect. What did thety get ? More problems no better mileage ect. I work on boilers, air handlers and refrigeration equipment now and smile alot more too. And as far as any bailout, Without GM and Dodge, 97 billion $ out of the economy and the trickle down job losses from their suppliers,Ford would have been next as no one would have any money to buy a Ford. In fact Ford lobbied the government to bail out GM and Chrysler. As much as they compete against each other they are better because of each other. It's Halftime in America!! :auto-car:

    Well more redsquare Members have stepped up to the plate. Monkulunka - Chris Harris out of the St. Louis Mo are has offered to help with getting the Tractor to Tennesee to be put on a boat. And from here it gets a bit convoluted....but! As parts were going to be difficult to find in time to make the next boat, we got a little bit desperate. Knus has been searching high and low. rwilson - Rich Wilson out of PA offered up his spare 551 basically for what he has in it, though being in PA caused a problem, Stevasaurus offered to transport it from PA to Illinois after the June Show...but that leaves it in Illinois and Knusern waiting forever.....sooo Since it is going to be at least until then before I can start on mine, basically I am going to ship Knusern parts off of my Suburban Project sop that we can make it on the boat in time. Knusern is buying Richs 551 to replace mine, which Steve will get from Rich at the June Pa show and I will get from Steve I guess at some time when I am in Illinois, lol...I have yet to talk to Steve, but I understand this is the offer he made...I hope, rofl! SO thanks to RS members stepping up and working together...Project Suburban International tractors on!

    Ok lets use a C-120 as a example, 12hp, the 0 tells you it's a 74 to 77 tractor, narrow dash tower, gas tank under the hood, those are the easy to see items, C-121 built 78 and 79 wide dash tower, gas tank under the fender, iso mount engine, C-125 built 80 to 84 Black hood all but 84 had plasic fenders, from factory, most have been changed over the years, also a isomount engine, yes there are exceptions to the rule in fact quite a few if you dig. The older tractors IE, 653 first no is HP second no. 5 elect. start, last no the year, only used in the 60's so 1963 if the middle no was a 0 it would be a pull start, and yes there are exceptions to this rule also like the 701, 702 they are elect start. Guys they all were back then stick shift, till 1965 then it was a 7 for the middle # for the hydro, and all hydros are elect. start, the middle # tells you if elect. start or not, like a 656 is a 6hp elect. start 1966, the 606 is a 6hp pull start 1966

    Yes, this is amazing .. It's fun to see so many people involved in this project it is very touching all I can say is Thank u guys .. have no words for it ... It's fun that it finally shows up a few parts. Like Rooster said, I have looked all the places for parts that I know of.been searching high and low But there is still much that is missing and must be explored up SO thanks to RS members stepping up and working together...Project Suburban International tractors on!

    It's my understanding that the guy with the Ford was actually able to drive fast enough to escape the destruction & he took the women with him...... that's why there were three Chevy guys standing in the pile of rubble with nothing but each other and a box of Twinkies. :handgestures-thumbup:

    Hi Duke, On the remote oil filter..............couldn't you use just about any oil filter base off of a small engine and get the same result? As long as the filter housing holds a filter that is as big or bigger than the OEM? I've often thought about moving that filter out of the housing as you did. Am I missing something as obvious as my nose. (Yes I'm Italian so it's rather noticable). Just a thought! PS.......you Onan setup sounded like my old 1975 Sportster when idling. :)
