Going to be heading to Chelsea, Mi. from Marion, IN. in the next week or so. Any one along my route have D parts for sale let me know, if I'm close I might stop and buy them. Thanks.

If it's a kohler single 16 I'd be more concerned if it didn't run. Kelly is spot on! Does it blow any smoke when its running? As for the trans wet seals are normal. Check the trans oil level. See if the trans oil is black or brown and either watery or foamy in appearance. Anything other than black brings down the price. Make sure it shifts smoothly into all gears. No shift on the fly here. You must be stopped to change gears. It's not uncommon to have to let the clutch out some to get it to engage in any gear or go from hi to low range. However it should not feel like you need to force it. I think you stated in another post that it had a deck and plow. A clean 42 or 48 deck goes $200 - 500 down here. Attachments usually fetch more than the tractors. Good luck!

As for the not shutting off with the key, is it a K series or a Magnum? I'm going to guess a Mag. with that issue could be as simple as a bad ign. switch, or a broken wire, if it's a Mag. K series don't normally have that problem. Not all tractors have hour meters and yes the fail, in fact tractors I've had here more did not work than did work, start and drive the tractor for a few min. the meter will move if working. Being a 8 speed I don't know of any critical issues, just check it over for abuse, things not greased, oil black, general cond. was it cared for, ect...... As for price that is hard to say, with out any attachments depending on cond. running driving $300 to $700 if very nice with no issues, attachments add value but only as to how nice they are, if he is asking near $1000 it better be nice, not perfect but nice ready to use.

For anyone considering a DR grader I would suggest a Driveway Groomer w/ opt. riser plates, easily found on Google. Ive owned the larger version fir 5 years now. It works well behind my truck. With 6-12 Ags on my WH I find the tires dig in too much. I would definitely recommend the Jr groomer for use with a WH, it's 4' vs. 6' wide. There are too many turns in my driveway so the 50" grader is my favorite!

Alright everyone thank you for the advice in this search. Dad went today and picked up his new to him truck. I am very happy that he can finally have a nice full size truck to enjoy. This is his first. This he said tonight with a smile is the new primary horse puller.

I've found it easier for me to just get a tractor for each attachment especially since attachments seem to get heavier as I age.

Whatever the excuse we all understand the validity. There is always a good reason for more than one Wheel Horse. The 8 speeds have tons of power regardless of HP. Just watch what you want to do. Hydros have their advantages but also need more power to operate. Forest Road sumed it up best especially with the dial height knob and the manual lift.
