Thanks for the compliment guys. This one is very special to me and will be a joy to complete to say the least. Took the day off from work today, called in for a substitute teacher and headed over to the barn to get started on this. Worked a solid 4 hours on it before I knocked off for lunch. Some things are a little slow going due to the fact that some powder coating gets in areas where the tolerance won't allow for it. So out comes the sandpaper and files to clean up some of the holes so everything fits the way it should. I will get a little better at making sure some of these areas are taped off properly. Here is where I left it before lunch............. Had to do some running around after lunch and was only spend a little more time in the shop before calling it quits for the day. I am pleased with the progress that was done today. Was hoping to get a little further, but the project isn't going anywhere. Ran in to a couple snags...........some parts were mixed in with our 701 and they came back red, so those will be redone. A few cosmetic things need to be changed. Need to grab some tubes to be on the safe side and install the new shoes on this. Working with a great friend on a replacement seat for this. Still looking for the correct steering wheel for this L-156. If you have one in great shape, please let me know. When I locked up the barn and hit the lights, this is what was patiently waiting for me to come back yet another day...... Hope all of you are enjoying a little part of this journey with me!

You need to go to http://www.kohlereng...als/landing.htm and download a manual before you do anything else. Most of your questions will be answered in that manual. Yes, changing the timing can make the knock a little less noticeable, but I think you have other problems. If changing the timing reduces the knock, then you probably have an out-of-round crankshaft journal. Changing the timing is just changing the point where the connecting rod is slamming down on the crank. It is not fixing the problem. There is a link to a site where the "static timing" procedure is described. For a complete description of this technique with pictures, please refer to the "HOW TO" section on a web site by Matt Gonitzke, http://mgonitzke.net16.net/ Before you do serious damage to the engine, I think you need to have the crankshaft journal and inside diameter of the rod measured by a reputable machine shop.

Hey Guys Let's move everything but the mechanical aspects of this issue off the Forum where it belongs! However let’s not forget in any Purchase and Sale Agreement certain Representations are always made between the parties otherwise there would be no Purchase or Sale! A contract does not have to be in writing to demonstrate Obligations and Representations made by one Party to another! It's unlikely members of the Red Square Panel would be aware of what representations were made in these circumstances and so should not be seen to taking sides nor should they be assuming the role of Jurors or giving legal opinions on the merits of litigation whether personal or corporate! "Whatever actions you decide to pursue, please keep those matters off of the forum like you were asked" would be an appropriate remark! I might also suggest a further statement “It is not in the best interests of "This Forum" for personal matters regarding transactions to be posted. (There was a similar issue just a few days ago between two members of this forum where a response was much more sarcastic but nothing was said in that case, at least not publicly!) I have not seen any evidence of slander. I don't recall any name calling and the only threats I have read relate to commencing a legal proceeding which I believe would be within a purchaser’s rights should they decide to. The seller was never identified by Hodge 71 in any post I read! Finally, the quotes of both parties mentioned earlier was produced for “POSTERITY†There is no prosperity here except maybe for the person who unloaded this tractor. Everybody should stay neutral including the Moderators! Fairness applies to everyone!

Since everyone is putting their 2 cents in-PERHAPS-just perhaps-not checking the crank journal for roundness and proper specs-THEN ordering rod, and checking it upon arrival, before assembly caused the knock-NOT- the use of STENS parts. It would be nice , in a perfect world, if we all had pockets deep enough for only KOHLER parts. But thats probably not true. Any comments on what Brian Miller thinks of STENS?-Al-Read-"new internal engine--etc. http://gardentractor...om/a1engine.htm

Mods....sorry for misplacing this but I thought it should be seen in a high traffic area Was cruising the net today during my lunch break and found this article that was published by a local South Bend News Station. Thought the rest of you would be interested in reading a little bit more about this fine man and a little about his life. There is also an opportunity to send memorials in his name listed at the end of the article. http://www.wsbt.com/news/wsbt-cecil-pond-developer-of-riding-lawnmower-dies-20120105,0,2116647.story?page=1 I am thankful for the vision that he had. This has truly turned in to a magnificent hobby that is being shared by 3 generations of my family.

Could not find the picture I was wanting but found this picture from 1959 or 60 on my first horse. His name was silver and he was an awesome horse. He worked hard for us kids. Helped deliver news papers and pulled all the towns kids on a sled when the snow flew. Maybe I should have posted this somewhere else but it is an old photo of a horse.

yeah it dried perfectly clear where i attached the two broken pieces together. The area where I had to fill in the missing section had lots of bubbles and had a slight yellow tone to it, but the yellow color might have been from the tape i used to make the mold.

Hey guys, Thanks for all the input. I glued it up and painted the lens today. It looks good from a distance. But you can see defects when you get real close. Here are a few pics on what I did.
