A while back I had some zinc plating done so I also sent along a bunch of other parts to be plated also. I finally got around to installing some of them. So out with the old And in with the new I also added some more of Terrys decals I love working on these things.

It's not red but it will fit on a Wheel Horse. I found this at the same guys place that I got the Charger 10 from. Its a brand new New Holland 36" tiller. The tiller itself is the same as the Wheel Horse one. The mid-pulley, I dont' think will work on a Wheel Horse but I took it anyway, figuring I could use the pulleys to make a mid-pulley. This makes my good tiller look worn out. Enjoy the Pics.

Mods....sorry for misplacing this but I thought it should be seen in a high traffic area Was cruising the net today during my lunch break and found this article that was published by a local South Bend News Station. Thought the rest of you would be interested in reading a little bit more about this fine man and a little about his life. There is also an opportunity to send memorials in his name listed at the end of the article. http://www.wsbt.com/news/wsbt-cecil-pond-developer-of-riding-lawnmower-dies-20120105,0,2116647.story?page=1 I am thankful for the vision that he had. This has truly turned in to a magnificent hobby that is being shared by 3 generations of my family.

I have owned a C175 for close to 30 years. When I first noticed cracking of the rear fenders---around seat mounting---I reinforced the fender/seat assembly with 2" light weight angle iron and extended it past the fenders and installed a rear bumper for mounting my spray rig. The Tractor is original except for seat, tires, belts and blades.

Changed my mind..... Gonna start from scratch (and dent and rust ) Donor tractor was a 1970 Raider 10, but the only original (to this Raider) parts I'm using is the frame and the lower steering support & shaft - everything else is from other tractors. Time to disassemble! Propped together for an idea of how bad (as in terrible) it'll look: Long way to go, but at least I got started. :woohoo:

Heres the next step in the story....I called Northeast Hydro today explained to them the circumstances I have with my unit. They definitely believe that if the unit built enough pressure to blow the o-rings it definitely hurt the hydro pump from the abuse. The motor, they arent sure about until they get it on a test stand and run it. They are also going to check the orginal hydro control valves, as mine were torn out and replaced with a tractor supply log splitter control valve at some point. Pump, motor, and control valve for 3 point/mid are all going to Northeast Hydro next week. They are going to open up the pump first and are going to go through things step by step and see whats up. I have never dealt with anyone that gave me a quote up front to just look at and test it first and then move on from there depending on the findings. They truly are a class act. $65 for the investigation and we shall see how much I have to spend from there to get this straightened out. I also got the gas tank off today and found the major leak is in the bottom seam so looks like it will be sealed from the inside out with some type of coating.

Usually a dinner and a movie will quiet them down...or really nice jewelery. Could be as simple as unloading the dishwasher even...they're hard to figure out sometimes. :eusa-think:

Yeah, I did see that. Very cool little machine. I can see a similarity between the two. And as for an "adult" driving this on, I don't know if you would consider me an adult. 22 Years old, 5'6, 140 pounds, and ALWAYS carded when I order alcohol (I look about 18 or 19 when I shave & clean up) LOL

Yep 417A is a nice machine, kinda partial to them myself. They are a grat worker. Yep Craig A for auto. they are better on the fuel than the 520 20Hp Onans Or 20HP Kohler Magnums Onans Power wins hands down, but it comes at a cost in fuel. The Kohler magnums are thirsty as the jetting on the carb is larger requiring more fuel to develope those 3 extra ponies so I am told. ~Duke

    857

Here are some pics of my 857. I bought it in the summer of 2010 and did a total restore. It took me about nine months to complete. This was my first wheel horse and first restore.

duke, good to see you figured out the engine rebuild thing, you alays learn the most hen you have to go back and find out what went wrong. the dirt in the first oil change is from all of the high peaks in the cylinder hone pattern being polished off by the piston rings and seating the contact surfaces to a smoother surface that increases the seal between the rings and cylinders. A typical oil sample/analysis taken on any new engine after breakin will show enough foriegn particles to indicate failure is imminent, from the initial wear/seating in of the components, that is hy the breakin and first oil &filter change are so important. Using feeler guages/shimstock to adjust the valves is and alays has been a ''feel'' thing that has to be developed over time, consequently the term feeler guage. their are several ways to help you develop the proper feel of the drag on the guage, probably the best way is to use 2 sets of guages, one guage of the desired clearance .004 and a set of go,no go guages .004/.006 that are on both sides of the desired clearance, the .005 should feel some drag, the .004 should slide right thru and the.006 should be tight or not go at all. depending on how hard it is to get the guage into the valve stem some times it is advantagous to bend the blade for easy access. I would use the longer filter for more filtering capacity and make sure to run a grommet on the tin to keep the cooling air inside and on the cooling fins. Did you cut the filter open and inspect it for debris after breakin, ? use a canopener type cutter not a hacksaw and then unravel the corrigater filter paper and look for the junk in the folds. good luck shorts

Very Nice. Any plans to put fire bricks in it? They aren't needed but it will protect the metal a lot. I drilled some holes in the bottom of mine for water to drain out since it doesn't have a cover. I was also thinking of putting mine on some sort of wheels so I can move it easily but haven't gotten around to that yet.

I don't have any experience pulling at all - but if those appear like they could be filled with concrete. Guessing on the size of 1' x 1' x 4' long they would weigh in at about 600lbs (avg concrete is +/- 150lbs/cf) Early in the vid they're pulling 4 (2400lbs) then they go to 6 (3600lbs) Just a guess how much is normal in a pulling competition?
