You really shouldn't buy individual internal parts or a "kit" until measurements are taken and/or machine work is done. It's an early small-bore K-161, so make sure you get the right parts - and I honestly don't know if you can even buy a "kit" for your specific engine. Later K-161 engines didn't have ACR either, so as long as the camshaft is in good condition, reinstall it and forget about it. :D

Thanks Jordan...I saw that kit (and similar ones) on e-bay and other sites. You know, I find it interesting that I haven't been able to find a kit with everything. Some include the valves, some include the governor gear, some neither, but not both, or at least not that I found. I'd like to see one kit that includes all of that stuff, plus the bearings too! Just sayin.... :confusion-shrug:

OUCH!! Maybe you could regift this particular present? Kidding, of course. Good luck with your rebuild, I'll be watching your progress closely, as will others I'm sure. And in the "lemonade out of lemons" department, better for this to happen on a nice day than in the middle of a driving snowstorm.

If the tractor is to be a worker, if the tires hold air and there's no reason to dismount them, then wire brush the rims, apply the vasoline, and gingerly paint the rims with Rustoleum (Sunrise Red in the can). Works for me; that paint is outstanding in leveling and drying quickly. Tom in RI (Recently replaced wheels and tires on two "C" chassis with old 23x10.5-12 units that now look like a million.

Do you have the belt installed on the outside (smaller) groove of the PTO pulley? That's actually the correct groove, but some of us use the inside (larger) groove to make the thrower spin faster. Even though the instructions state to use the outer groove, the belt usually lines up better on the inside groove. If you try to run a new belt on the inside groove, it will be tighter and closer to the axle beam. Once the belt stretches, it should be fine.

One thing thats pretty slick about electrolysis, you don't need to be present to do it. Get your part or parts set up & you can move on to another project while the tanks does it's trick. Everything said above is good info. I use 2 1/2" wide strips of iron about a 1/4" thick & have good results & off the bottom of the tank as Steve mentioned. Keeping the sacrificial anodes clean is messy, but needs to be done regularly for best results. I've seen 12volt light bulbs used in some tank setups to act as an indicator, if the light burns dimmer & dimmer the anodes are in need of cleaning or changed. Mine is powered by a 25amp 12volt fan cooled power supply, no it's not running 25amps constant....but it's worked out great & does a better job than automotive type battery chargers.
