    42'' SD decks are a great mower for an average to larger lawn  IMO. By looking at the picture yours appears to be leaning forward quite a bit . The quadrant in the lower left corner has what looks to be bolted in a fixed position. That is where the adjustment height lever should be. Also the rear lift rod with trunion and nut need to be adjusted to set the deck for the correct height.  Hope this helps.

    The height indexing bracket has been installed backwards.   This could be the reason the cut is too low.

    Thanks guys. Ill try the trunnion nut and see if that is better. Not sure what happened to the height index lever, it came like that but yes it does look different than the other decks I see. I think the previous owner did some fab work, it works ok, but can't get the 3.75" I prefer like my 37" deck does.  If I can get it higher I might keep it for backup instead.
