I have a 1990 520H tractor for repair or parts. It was a now or never purchase last fall that I figured would either be a winter project or pass along to someone else. I still have two tractor projects ahead of this one and could use some space. It was a one owner machine used exclusively for grass cutting I was told. It has the deck and hubcaps just not pictured. If you want pics, I will get them and more of tractor if you wish. I did a compression test that showed 100 lbs on front cylinder and zero on rear. Likely common valve seat issue.? The tractor also has some paperwork from owners grandson and looks to be complete. I am asking 350 or reasonable offer. Contact me at kiblitz1@gmail.com or thru Redsquare if interested. Currently posted only to Redsquare classifieds to offer up to members first. Thanks for looking and Happy New Year.

    A 520 with manual lift?

I see hydro levers on the steering column, but that manual lift lever raises some eyebrows for sure.

Never gave it much thought until you guys pointed it out. Never spent much time on this series. Is it odd to have the lift lever?

It shouldn't have a manual lift lever.

It has the lever on the left side of the steering wheel, opposite the drive lever. Like I said, Im not an authority on these series but they also had a 520HC. C i read was meant for commercial. Is this possibly one?

The parts listing at Jacks shows both lift systems were available on the 1990 520H. Toro parts viewer doesn't show it.  It may be just an error in the listing or maybe this tractor was a low production #/  cheaper version oddball.

Possibly. I looked underneath and didn't see an obvious lift cylinder, All the manual gear is there.Maybe its a 520-8 front?

If anyone knows the mystery of this tractor please let me know! Squonk, could the Jacks parts schematic possibly be mentioning the 520-8 along with the H in one ? Thanks for looking that up by the way.

I see where you're going with that question and I've read that the 700 was normally used on 516 and 518s without hydraulic lift. I guess I'll have to look at the differences between the two( 700 and 1100).

    700 has no oil filter.

    Very interesting mystery!

Oil filter at left rear under the fender?

The tractor seems to have the lift control lever still in place (left side of the steering wheel).

If it has an 1100, I’d wonder how the lift plumbing has been handled with no cylinder. Is the control valve still there? Has the charge pump output been routed direct to the filter input or is the normal plumbing in place but with the A&B ports on the control valve simply plugged?

Also, the 518 never had a swept axle or the steering column controls.

Yes it has the oil filter as you describe. It’s hard to see the top of the trans  because of the sheet metal but I was wondering the same thing. I may go see if I can find out some more about it here in the near future. It does run too by the way but only on one cylinder and it moved in both directions.
