C160 fuel tank question

Recommended Posts

WHnewbie

Hi folks, I am a proud owner of a C160 I just purchased. I was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative source for a fuel tank. The neck on mine has somehow been broken off. I'm dying to get this old girl running again so any help will be greatly appreciated!!

eBay is probably your best source.

There aren't currently any listed, but keep watching. Also, you could place a wanted ad here in the classifieds.

Bruther, DO not toss it.....you can weld plastic......I do it to the plastic fender covers on your bumbers too, I always save the zip tie ends and use them like welding rods. Try to find out what type of plastic it is and use the equivalent n make your own rods to weld with. Youll probably make it stronger then when it was 1st manufactured too!!!  Another way is to do like we do in plumbing is add a compression fitting with a female thread to screw the shot off back in.....very easy n cheap.

I do not know what you mean by neck being broken off. if the nipple is broken off watch this video for the exact parts you need to fix it.

Oh neet and quick way to fix thanks Ebinmaine. I was thinking if there was say a crack in the tank wall its able to be welded, but as for the supply line side at work we have what they call a bulkhead fitting. Its really the same as in the video but theres a nut on the outside that youd tighten and on the tube itself you can either get a female or male thread. But I will say the fitting your suggesting is far faster. Hi 5 brother.
