Generally collectable or rare horses bring more money if they are in decent unrestored original condition. There are some guys on here that can restore a unit and driving it will be like new off the showroom floor, they will bring high $. If its a Rustoleum job generally it will bring less. Jparkes43 329 #31 Posted December 10, 2014 well today i did get some sanding and cleaning done to the ranger panels. i am very happy with how it turned out they don't look like much but it is as smooth as glass, used a combination of 60,120,240 and 360 grip sand paper by hand and using the pad sander, the pressure washer, washing liquid and some sponges helped them get clean. the bonnet, seat and the whole tractor is left so plenty to get on with. but overall i am very happy with them, tomorrow they will have the primer on them and ready to be painted. james 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

This method was once used to restore old licence plates . Spray the ( just the ) general area of the raised portion in the color you want the letters to appear ( a couple applications ). Then apply your top color to the whole hood ( right over the letters . When everything has cured , rub the raised portion of the letters with a fine rubbing compound to reveal the first color you applied . 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Jparkes43 329 #46 Posted December 15, 2014 (edited) not any real work on the body to the ranger (engine off and a few other bits, will get a few pics soon), but i have made thees thumb screws at school that would be there from originally to replace some old bolts that where put in there place, i used a bar of mild steel and turned it down on the lathe to 0.25" or 6.35mm and then got a 1/4 BSW (British standard whitworth) die and threaded on the end. then i knurled the thumb side with to passes to create a nice groove then i parted it off and made a second one, there is also a picture of it on the bonnet, and i have to say i really like it. let me know what you think. james Edited December 15, 2014 by Jparkes43 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
