radarme 15 #1 Posted July 8, 2012 Met some great folks and picked up the following: 312-A -this one is in great shape and will be a worker Suburban 550 - at least that is what I think I have. It was restored in '87 and is still in pretty good shape. Is there a manual out there that deals with the service of this tractor? I have the Operator and Parts Manual. '64 Sears David Bradley. - really cool tractor and runs great.... 1960 Cub Cadet... at. least I think that's the year. The Suburban 550 will get a full restore. The David Bradley is in such great shape, I hate to touch it. The Cub Cadet may get a full restore.... not sure. I'll post some pics tomorrow...

radarme 15 #7 Posted July 8, 2012 Here are the Suburban 550 Pics: and here is the David Bradley... It's a Sears Suburban 725 from 1964.
radarme 15 #8 Posted July 8, 2012 The Suburban 550 has a metal tag on it with the following numbers stamped into it: H550-2113 or it could be H55D-2113 9783565 Can anyone translate this for me?
antiquetractors 4 #9 Posted July 8, 2012 The Suburban 550 has a metal tag on it with the following numbers stamped into it: H550-2113 or it could be H55D-2113 9783565 Can anyone translate this for me? The h55d is the lauson engine. H55 is the basic model number. The D is the change in model and the 2113 is the spec number. That should be the original motor for your 1961 551 suburban. The 1960 550 suburban had a h55b-1170 lauson. That is a great find! Hope that helped a little.
wallfish 17,084 #10 Posted July 8, 2012 Like antiquetractors said, that tractor is a 1961 551 and not a 550. Looks good too!
radarme 15 #11 Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) Here are a few more pics.... Wheelhorse 312-A - 1987 I believe: Cub Cadet - Year uncertain: Edited July 9, 2012 by radarme
radarme 15 #12 Posted July 9, 2012 We were there Friday and Saturday.... The highs for each day were North of 110 degrees.... I believe we came close to heat stroke trying to fit that Cub Cadet in our trailer! One highlight of the trip was getting to fly in a 1942 Stearman in unbelievably restored condition. You should have seen the level of detaili that went into this restoration project. Word around the airport was that this is the best example of that type aircraft anywhere in the US.... That would be me in the front seat.
Lars 526 #13 Posted July 9, 2012 Yep it is a 551 u got there but it has a lane ranger steeringwheel on it.. nice tractor the other looks good to
Ken B 3,164 #14 Posted July 9, 2012 Very nice score! The 551 looks great other than the mentioned incorrect steering wheel. 312A looks like a real nice worker as well. That is a very nice Original Cub Cadet. There are some numbers on the rear transaxle that can help decipher the yr. or if the I.D. tag is still on the motor that can help as well. It looks to be in very nice shape as well
Jake Kuhn 1,556 #15 Posted July 9, 2012 Those are some nice tractors! Jake

radarme 15 #17 Posted July 10, 2012 The hunt for a correct steering wheel is on! I'll be sure to look you up 4xforfun next time. We had a lot of fun..... but next time we'll pay a little more attention to the weather and probably bring a bigger trailer!
